After all the talk about Nuguse and Hoey winning their races to get the worlds place both of them may as well have not bothered turning up lol
Flotrack is putting up a free stream for this one for those in the US.

Most obvious diaper or most obvious doper? Lmao comical
Thought Burgin was going to catch Wanyonyi on the homestretch there, but he really is just a level above the rest of the 800 guys. Even as deep as the event is now, hard to see anyone beating him in Tokyo.
Hoppel and Hoey bringing up the rear, I assumed Hoppel was in a training block after that 1:47 in Lausanne but this is a little more worrisome. Hoey just wiped after all the racing, I assume
didn't both of them run quite a bit indoors...the season is just too long to do that
Arop needs to lock in
Smart running from Hoey but it didn’t matter. He’s spent.
At least we have a 16 year old who could have won that 800m final
Handsome Hoey is out. Dammit. Was rooting for him. Phenomenal indoor season is a consolation, I guess.
Hoey another one stitched up trying to peak at GST.

Wanyonyi holds on.
What a run from Max MF Burgin though!
He's just starting to peak, Tokyo could be perfect timing!
He also runs very well tactically! He’s never actually had an injury free season before - I really hope he can pull something special off at the Worlds.
The Americans mostly looked fried. I think having to peak for nationals and then again less than a month later took a lot out of them.
A bunch of goose eggs for the American hopefuls today. I think there's something to be said about Hoey and Nuguse both coming and winning a DL event after the USA defeats but before where it counted most in the Finals. Gotta keep that fire inside for when it counts, but also they needed to qualify for the Finals too. Maybe poor coaching decisions? Run a couple more earlier in the year and you don't fall into this pressure trap at the end

Super impressive for Andrews!
That’s dope
Everyone that needed to qual dudded today. I think it's fair to give a worlds spot to the DL winner.

Relevant comparisons, bud:
Team entries:
Davis Cup (tennis), Ryder Cup (golf), Olympics and WC (all sports)
Individual entries:
Diamond League (track), Grand Slam (tennis), PGA Tour (gold)
Hope that helps.
How are explicitly team competitions where they don't crown individual team champions and a global participation/unity event (Olympics) in the same category as the World Championships? They're just not. It's an anachronistic thing that's all. That's why they're even adding byes because they know the system should find a way to ensure country of origin isn't a disadvantage to reaching the biggest individual championship.

Just too much racing maybe? I feel for them. With Worlds in September a late peak is very much needed.

Fairly silly post.
He's gone 1:42 four times this year.
Seems pretty locked.
There is just a faster guy alive.
I've never set foot on a track, but somehow it was obvious to me and almost nobody else that:
a) Once Burgin's injury problems had been diagnosed and fixed and he could actually do regular workouts for the first time since he was 16, he would just get better and better and be a real threat.
b) Laros literally falling on to the track last year and still getting up to run a sub 3::50 mile at 19 after being injured for much of the winter and early season meant that he was clearly going to be the future dominant champion sooner rather than later.
Burgin always looks like Alf Tupper 'Tough of the Track' in old British comics.
Won all his races eating fish and chips.
Americans disappointing across the board at this meet
