People with your attitude are usually raised by parents(parent) who didn't teach them rules of society like respect for authority, following the law etc....They often have lifelong problems and end up in prison....Poor parenting, bad neighborhoods.
I was taught to stand up to authoritative oppressors that you seem prone to bend over for.
No coincidence that people with your values end up in prison.
Yet another absurd fallacious report and attitude expressed by an "attorney" who now has politically flipped and see's Kerley's arrest as somehow legitimate -
“Another member of Hill's legal team, civil rights lawyer Devon M. Jacob, reviewed the body-worn camera footage of Kerley's arrest and said the mechanics of the two incidents are significantly different.” "Citizens do not have a right to disobey lawful orders, such as to back up from a police scene that they're not involved with — which, in my understanding, is how this started," said Jacob, a Pennsylvania-based attorney who helped represent George Floyd's family in its civil case against the City of Minneapolis following Floyd's death at the hands of police in 2020. "An individual has no right to get within the personal space, in a threatening manner, of a police officer. Once that happens, it's within an officer's right to take that person into custody. And that's what happened here."
He was NOT "in their personal space" - THEY WERE IN HIS PERSONAL SPACE! He was not interfering with their crime scene, but they were being hyper vigilant in responding to him and invading his personal space and they were "threatening" him. It is NOT within an officer's right to instigate violence and then take that person into custody - absolutely not! What happened here is, that he was baited into responding back aggressively after being touched and pushed back into other officer behind him who then pushed him from behind forward to create the confrontational tassel. The discussion could have been done so differently - For example:
Police officer - "Hang on a second Brother, I'm Officer Dale Smith, what's your name?
Fred Kerley - "Fred Kerley"
Police officer - "Ok, Fred, no disrespect here Bro, we've got a crime scene gonna on here and we need you to hang on for a few minutes until we get the all clear, can you wait just a few minutes my friend until we get this sorted out?"
Fred Kerley - "But I need my car!"
Police officer - "I know.. you'll get, I promise.... just give us a few minutes and we'll have it all sorted".
But nope...... They had to play the 'Power-over Machismo Card' and start treating him like a herd animal expecting full and immediate compliance without any will of his own. He wasn't doing anything remotely threatening and got suckered into a conflict not of his own design.
Kerley was in the wrong. If you fight with police officers, you’re likely going to get tased or sprayed. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Tyreek Hill played the same stupid games in Miami, he won some pretty stupid prizes too. People need to grow up and quit acting fools.
Those cops will end up losing their jobs and charges possibly laid. Cops are idiots who think they can arrest someone for something they escalated based on a power trip.
I bet this is Fred Kerley thinking he's got a case. I hope the only case he has is Nike ditching his entitled @$s!
Fred MF Kerley boutta score a payday exceeding his cumulative track earnings.
You have zero brain he entered an active crime scene. He was in police investigation jurisdiction. He also ignored the legal orders of law enforcement key word here is enforcement as in they have a legal justification by law to enforce it. He is the one that will be giving Miami a pay day.
The Miami Federal Attorney should shut down Miami PD for this.
Miami PD really stepped in it. Fred is fairly well known all over the world and is a World Champion and Olympic medalist. The video of his arrest will now be used as propaganda in many countries: "See, in America they beat their black Olympians in the gutter like dogs!"
You have a degree in criminal justice or been to law school? I have and I can tell you he really stepped in it alright and he is going to be doing his first marathon with the great state of Florida acting as the Piano that he is dragging over the 26.2 mile distance not in his favor.
There's a discussion to be had about knowing your rights for sure. But no easy answers here. We should expect police to be doggedly professional. And we should expect the public, who may not know or remember the intricacies of the law, to give public officials like police officers the benefit of the doubt. Neither side should *need* to assert anything.
I know Fred as a running fan. He has a reputation for saying little and saying even less about how he grew up. He may have reasons for worrying about his car or for not trusting police. But police also have a tough job, and unless you have experience putting yourself in harm's way, it's pretty easy to underestimate how difficult it is "manage" this type of situation. Don't want police to err on the side of physically securing a scene? Become a cop.
I'm inclined to support Fred to some extent - especially after seeing some of the videos - and I'm embarrassed for the U.S., but there's certainly some overlap here with the Tyreek Hill incident, with whom the media was way too generous.
Though Kerley was technically released on his own recognizance for the incident with police, he remained in a Miami jail after the hearing. Police added charges from a nearly year-old case on Friday, claiming they were not able to locate him in May 2024. (Kerley competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials the next month, and the Olympics later that summer.) The new charges against Kerley were serious felonies: strongarm robbery, domestic violence, and domestic violence by strangulation.
Kerley was in the wrong. If you fight with police officers, you’re likely going to get tased or sprayed. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Tyreek Hill played the same stupid games in Miami, he won some pretty stupid prizes too. People need to grow up and quit acting fools.
The police officer in the Tyreek Hill incident is nothing more than a road pirate. He lost his temper and had a hissy fit when a citizen wasn't kissing his a$$. It's the officer's job to be professional and to deescalate situations where citizens are mad, not turn to violence and punish them for it. We taxpayers pay their salary.

Which impugns his character more, his behavior during the altercation, or his choice of female companionship?
So, I saw this, but obviously only from where it starts, sounds obvious, but thats where I see it. Cops tell him to stop, he essentially F U's them and keeps walking forward, they put out an arm, not even that forcefully and Kerley slaps them down, that is a BAD idea. and that escalates it, thats how I saw it. Kerley as a World Traveler, should be much more aware of being stopped even if for no reason, than pulling this stuff. The vile language he uses just makes him look bad or worse. Preventable and mostly on him.
I am not a cop but I do understand that if you are in a stressful situation (the other arrest/crime that was happening) and someone is trying to get to their car (which is in the crime-scene area) and you tell them, "sir, you can't go over there right now," the only acceptable option is to say "okay, when can I come back and pick up my car?"
Getting in people's faces (cops or otherwise) is the problem. People are trying to do their jobs and don't need you to be demanding something of them when they are already doing something else that is more important.
You see this all the time at the airport or any place where what you want is not as important as what is going on around you. Americans are really bad at understanding that "their thing" might not be everyone else's priority.
Sure, but that transgression doesn't end in a tasering or ass whoopin from regular person or cashier.
