to be crystal clear, what i have suggested on this site in another thread is a third way. i think the basic problem here is half the country is playing catchup on dealing with this emerging reality. so we let the trans kids compete in a third category with various other excluded groups left out of our 1950s conception of how to organize sports. my state does wheelchair now. ok, add some other groups in that third heat. the kids get to play -- inclusive -- and we take a little bit of time on conservatives' issues here.

however, if this comes down to we have just the 2 classes, and do we force people who see themselves as women, and live that way all day, to compete as men, to suit nasty bullies, you can "deal with it." the kids have to play some way and it's not unsafe or destructive of fair competition. it's "thomas and telfair" all the time because those are the only 2 of them who were absolutely dominant.

i actually think we should keep an eye on things to make sure it's fair. but in reality my eye sees rare participation with varied results. SJSU was lousy last year and decent this season but ranked 130th in the country. that is not dominating the sport or ruining fairness, and it includes people i think have been shoved out.

here's the history on this, to me. at first just boys. we said it was ungirly, against religion, and unsafe for girls to play. we got a clue, girls grudgingly got sports and it took until 1980s to really have them mirror boys with a full slate of teams eg distance track, softball.

however, this left out whole sets of kids. black kids had to go to black schools and play other black kids, until well after we had legally integrated.

plus special olympics kids have to have their own separate meets. we are barely letting paralympians in. and then i saw bullies run off gay kids from HS sports, or make their lives hell. and trans kids have been in the closet.

the basic deal is trans and gay kids are now out of the closet and this prompts the issue of how they will play sports. i see your response to this emerging issue as just point back to the 1950s.

once it dawns on you who is currently being excluded, you cannot unsee it and you want some way for the outsider kids to play in the same meets we did.

just be careful who you ally with. the leaders of the forfeit movement don’t genuinely care about the tiny impact of trans athletes in sports. they are after controlling which bathrooms people choose, making gender affirming care inaccessible for minors and adults, and most importantly re-establishing gender roles with women having restricted rights as compared to men - oftentimes using the religion as reasoning.

oh, come off it, we have to occasionally endure the odd trump ad or conservative leaning commercial while watching a show like yellowstone.

you do understand that large corporations wanting to sell tons of stuff and make a lot of money, might want to appeal to every little segment? i think you're so stuck in your narrowcasted world where the rest of us have someone become offensive in our own existences and thoughts.

yes, to me there is a broader agenda that has been announced by clarence thomas. the courts intend to say, when presented with the right case, that sexual freedoms are not in the constitution. there are a whole series of decisions from about 1945-2015 they plan on rolling back. they already did abortion. what's next are federal right to gay sex, federal right to gay marriage, federal right to contraceptive pills or condoms. they just started with abortion because abortion is the icky one.

i think they then plan on rolling back fault-free divorce state by state.

the only one they aren't touching is cross-racial sex and marriage because if they touched that one they'd get burned down.

Wrong on all counts. Sports are already fully inclusive and fair when boys play with boys and girls play with girls. No third way is needed. It is that simple.

Why are there so many articles now saying this player is “accused” of being trans or is “allegedly” trans? Is this not the sort of thing that can easily be confirmed?

Of course it is, but in Democratic jurisdictions the trans activists are a potent political power. Fear of being attacked as trans-phobic. Increasingly people are not backing off, willing to attack in-kind the lunacy of the trans movement.
