I also knew of Wetmore since my high school in NJ was in the same conference as the XC powerhouse Bernardsville, the alma mater of Brad Hudson. Wetmore apprenticed under Ed Mather, the legendary Bernards coach.
True about Buff history under Q, but Hudson never went to Bernard’s hs
My bad -- it's been a few decades. 🙃
From my recollection, Brad trained with the Mine Mtn. Road Dept. club, which likely included Bernards runners. But he officially ran for North Hunterdon high school.
If true. As I mentioned earlier it's going to be entertaining to watch all of her athletes at BYU scrambling to transfer to CU.
If this happens, I don't think that you will see that many transfers. Many of the women would be devastated to see Diljeet leave, but Mormons see BYU like the rest of us see Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. Success and social clout in LDS circles stems from a BYU degree and connections made there.
I'd be very surprised if that happened. aside from deep ties to BYU, she has a pro team that trains in Provo. what would happen to them? and Courtney Wayment is about to go to the Olympics, would she really bail on her before that? if she waited until AFTER the Olympics to make the announcement that gives her less than 2 weeks before XC training began.
it just feels like a much better situation where she is. Mormons takes running seriously, every year there's a new crop of LDS kids dying to go there. must make her recruiting life much easier.

He did run w Wetmore and the boys, but he officially ran for Voorhees HS fresh and soph year and than for NH fall of jr year before becoming an emancipated teenager and moving out west to run for south eugene
fun fact, NH Andy Martin, Bill Babcock and Hudson all ran in the 84 Kinney XC finals
You don’t transfer out of beautiful Provo from a ready to win now team who (if true) will produce an excellent coach…especially if you have 1-2 years left and to a CU women’s team that is in shambles and will need to be dismantled

I know the top two candidates and it’s not DT. This is a false story.

Ok. Ive been told by another source that my initial source was wrong. So Diljeet will stay at BYU. You are correct.
I've also been told if you look at the job opening on the CU website, the job isn't that attractive. It lists a very low salary for a job of that stature (something like 116-176) and says you must have 5 years coaching or professional running experience with preferred prios experience for Colorado athletics. So by reading that, it sounds like they want to go to cheap and with an alum.

that's what I figured. I still think Jenny Simpson could be an interesting choice.

Ok. So let me get this straight- last post your source, who you believed enough to post it, didn't actually know squat but this source is for reals?

Of course, this is in direct conflict with what @NikkiSixx wrote back on page 15. This person said they are gonna throw a bunch of money at the program but they already turned the job down for some reason. I gotta admit this thread is pretty fun.

She has ZERO coaching experience. Also I don't see her wanting to recruit but then again I don't see Wemtore wanting to recruit.
To me, you do need someone independently wealthy as who else wants to live in Boulder on 150k a year. So she does make some sense from that standpoint but the logical choice seems to be Bosshard/Coburn kind of like Powell x 2 at UW.

Bosshard has never coached in HS , JR College, NAIA or the NCAA. The Powells spent years at Stanford and Oregon.
Sorry Charlie but according to Colorado Alum Emma and Joe are outs
Hey, don't come down on me. Wetmore destroyed Boulder as a place to come and train. Ask Barrios, Welsh, Benoit just to name a few. These were world class runners who Wetmore made it very unwelcoming to use CU's facilities.
Why read RWB if it is out dated and incorrect. Please tell me how Pat Porter, Ric Rojas (who used to live and train in Boulder) hurt the community? Or do you think these athletes were bad seeds sent to increase crime in Boulder. And while you are at it, how does dressing like a bum help you recruit to a Power five college at the biggest recruiting chance in Colorado, the State meet.
For what it’s worth, this is what I have heard. Admittedly, this is second hand. The Colorado department has not spoken to anyone directly yet. The process won’t begin until the date listed in the hiring posting. There is no expectation on increasing the salary range. They believe it is a competitive salary, in concert with what Wetmore earned, with the bonus of living in Boulder County. Through secondary sources they have back channeled inquired to 2 candidates either of which the administration believes they can afford. There is not much interest in having separate distance coaches for each gender and head coaching experience is desired. As for the initial candidates other than an internal interview, I don’t have names but was given broad descriptions. One is from the ACC with a respectable program on both sexes with an aggressive recruiting model. The recruiting aspect is highlighted in the hiring posting. The other one is from the “western states” who has coached nationally ranked team with experience coaching at altitude.
Not sure how it works in track but a few friends of mine have been asst college lacrosse coaches and camps are additional sources of income for coaches.
Sometimes the salary is listed as $50,000 but after camps it's much more.
Don't know if it's unique to lacrosse but I'm sure football and basketball also bring in nice money for camps
