The Boise valley is dominating the NW region rankings. They name Boise, Timberline, Rocky Mountain, and Capital as being possible NXN berths. The crazy thing is that an off day by two girls or a bad day by the right girl on any of those squads could result in not even getting a trophy at state because the 5th and 6th best teams really aren't even that far back.
Niwot girls are currently ranked 5th in the Colorado coaches poll in 5A in Colorado, but yet somehow Dyestat has them ranked 3rd in the whole SW region. Admittedly, likely 5 of the 6 best teams in the SW region (all but Lone Peak) are in Colorado 5A, but still...

Wait, hold on a sec, Niwot is ranked ahead of Air Academy here. Is Niwot really better than them?

State XC cannot come soon enough... To close to call. Mostly it is that Schwartz is not the same level of coach as Christensen is, and is having to match how he coaches with his girls club coach, who happens to be Rainsberger. The AA team tends to have uneven peaks, and the Niwot squad has to work with an experienced member coming back from injury.
I do not envy that Schwartz, always walking a tightrope. Or Christensen having to deal with elite athlete and rich parents ego's.

It’s absurd that people insinuate that Schwartz is a lesser coach than Rainsberger. Schwartz just won a national title and Rainsberger hasn’t won squat. Rainsberger needs to stop talking crap about coaches at other schools.
