Smart people compare her to all previous runners. But we put the majority of the emphasis on the fastest ones like Kohl in the 10k and Tuohy in the 5k. Silly to look at what a runner at 20 minutes for 5k is doing for training. The biggest Tuohy fans don't understand that they are in fact comparing her performance to Tuohy and the other top females.

I am obsesssed with Parker and Tuohy. I am obsessed with most elite runners. Most rea fans of the sport are. I expect to see Parker make the team this year. She is the future of American distance running. I probably should say that she is the present but I really expect her to make some big jumps after going pro.

No. It happens in many threads. A thread is created about a particular runner but when another runner is mentioned, people say that the thread isn't about the second runner. We could have a thread about Webb but as soon as Ryun is mentioned. people will say that the thread isn't about him. Webb's accomplishments are directly related to Ryun's accomplishments. Current high schoolers are compared to Webb. If we didn't look at the sub 4 guys, how would we know if sub 4 is fast or slow?

All of the points were addressed. Numerous people came on this thread and gave answers, and you and astro, specifically, ignored them and continued to accuse her of doping. You still think 5months of recovery for a foot injury is dramatic. Some injuries can last a career, yet some athletes, like Jake Wightman can be back running five weeks after a very severe foot injury. So to conclude a five month recovery for a foot injury is “dramatic” is just spouting nonsense; and it is stupidity when coming from you, one that doesn’t run and doesn’t understand basic training principles.

This thread isn't about Roe. But you say it isn't about Tuohy. What are you comparing VAlb'y accomplishments to that makes you question how good she is? You don't seem to realize that you are comparing her to Tuohy and other great runners tha came befire. If we had no frame of reference, Parker's accomplishments would be looked at in a vacuum. We wouldn't know if she is fast or slow. We wouldn't know if other utilize the same training methods or if she trains more than others. You are quick to refer to the training of elite runners, You are quick to act like Roe is an expert. But you scold people for mentioning the next best 5k runner in the NCAA and her training and her possible use of perfromance enhancers. Sure thing. Way to be consistent.
