If I could put this waffle on paper I would have a toilet roll.
You are not able to do it?
7:58.61 from Komen for you was as strong as any other running WR. Ingebrigtsen has bettered this mark last year by 4.51 seconds. This new record definitely is stronger than Komen's 7:20.67.
Some have had El Guerrouj's 4:44.79 as strong as his other records. Ingebrigtsen has bettered this mark by 1.66 seconds.
How do you rank those two records?
Who was the best 1500m runner of the last three seasons for you?
Who was the best 5000m runner of the last three seasons for you?
Who was the best distance runner of the last three seasons for you?
You are an utter moron. Your definition of a strong record is a record that isn't beaten. But eventually all records are - so, by your reasoning, no records are truly "strong". Except Jakob's, of course. What an idiot position. I can't be bothered discussing the rest of your comments. They aren't worth the bother.

7:58.61 clearly was not as strong as 3:26.00, 7:20.67 and 12:35.36.
Now the 7:54.10 is as strong as the other records. Same for 4:43.13.
Who was the best 1500m runner of the last three seasons?
Ingebrigtsen
Who was the best 5000m runner of the last three seasons?
good arguments for Ingebrigtsen

Like always absolutely no connection to the post he replys.
From the 10 men's WRs 800m to 10000m, only 2:11.96 is clearly behind the others in terms of quality. The 9 others are relatively close to each other with 7:54.10 now definitely little bit stronger than 7:20.67.
It's exactly your sort of "reasoning". To become the GOAT he has to better the best achievements of all of the other greats.
For you not the combination of Ingebrigtsen's achievements has to be better than the combination of the achievements for any other contender, but for you he has to top the best achievements of Bekele, the best achievements of Gebrselassie, the best achievements of El Guerrouj and so on...
I know that's way too difficult to understand for you. For sure you can top Farah without 10 global Golds; for sure you can top El Guerrouj without 30+ sub 3:30 times; for sure you can top Coe without two 1500m Golds.
If he isn't better than the best before him then he can't be "the greatest of all time", can he? Sorry, that's a simple question but too hard for you. The standard they have set is far and away higher than "the combination of his achievements". They have done that through the combination of their own achievements. That you think he may match or even exceed them is pure fantasy.
Here he really has some deep insight: to be the best, you have to be better than all the others. Great observation - and very close to the ultimate reasoning limit of Dumby.
To become GOAT distance runner, for Dumby Ingebrigtsen
- has to win at least two 1500m Golds (without he can't top Coe - for him it does not depend on all the other achievements)
- has to win 5000m Gold (because of Bekele, El Guerrouj)
To recap, Armstrong not only believes 5k is middle distance, he also thinks clocking a sub 28 road 10k as an 18 year old in the middle of mile training, on a slow course in the rain, doesn't qualify someone to be a distance runner

Until I explained it to him a few months ago, he thought cross trainining meant running on a treadmill.
See how he dismisses posts that expose his ignorance as "waffle" that he will not "bother replying to".
What you moronic yobs simply don't get is that everything on this thread is simply a matter of opinion: how good is Jakob, where he stands amongst his peers and in the context of history, and will he ever become the GOAT of distance running - like he says he wishes to be. None of these questions are in the end factual questions; they remain opinion, and depend entirely on how you evaluate greatness in the sport. It is as subjective as to whether you consider this artist to be better than that one - and your pouring out times and statistics prove nothing other than your partialities. My views are based also on my own criteria for judging greatness in the sport and the prattle issued on this thread by a bunch of geeks does nothing to persuade me that Jakob will attain his professed goal or is anywhere near it.
Shoes created this nonsense. Sorry bruh, El G, Komen, Bekele, Geb, Coe, Cram, Ovett, and probably 10 others are (and will always be) ahead of you. But it’s hilarious that you think so highly of yourself. Guy still can’t break mile WR with a 3 second head start.
So shoes disqualify Jakob but you have no issue with people like Coe who ran before mandatory drug testing was introduced in 1989?
Look, listen to me the master of reason and persuasion!
Super shoes would be infinitely more susceptible in SPACE and TIME because it's safer to assume Sebastian Coe is clean from PEDs than to assume Jakob would have beaten the former on lousy-ass shoes from 1970s (even worse than Hicham EL G's 1990s era)!!!!
How you prioritize your DECISION AND JUDGEMENT in the event of lack of ABSOLUTE SPACE and ABSOLUTE TIME (meaning 100% objective evidence) is to invoke the RELATIVITY OR RELATIVE RELATIONSHIP in space and time of any 2 or more comparisons!!!!
This is how you THINKKKKKKKK!!!!! BINGO!!!!

You didn't explain anything, you jerk. Cross-training can include running on a treadmill; I didn't say it was the only form of cross-training.

To recap, you are a moron. I didn't say any of that. But until Jakob medals over the 10k he isn't fit to tie Bekele's or Farah's shoelaces.

Yeah, I kinda agree with your last statement that Jakob will not get anywhere near his professed goal although the means to how we get to that reasoned conclusion varies due to our own subjective religions, beliefs, assumptions, morality, ethics etc.

Agree, my sacred one Kenenisa Bekele, the carbon copy heir of Haile Geb in terms of moral/sexual purity and self-control, is infinitely more accomplished at 23/24 years old than Jakob and my judgement is due to the fact that Bekele wore sh*tty shoes and yet won triple or quadruple double XC titles by then on consecutive days!!!!! Jakob couldn't never glide as effortlessly as Bekele over XC terrain on supershoes no less!!!!!

and so on.
Dumb, dumber, Dumbstrong.
Because of your unfortunate intellectual limitations you think that deciding what defines greatness in an athlete is a scientific question, like ascertaining the distance to the moon, when it is ultimately an expression of what you like or admire, like a taste in music. But since you probably have no taste of that variety you will have no judgement about greatness in anything let alone sports.

All the records are equally strong (Dumby 8 months ago). After improving the 2 Miles mark by 4.61 seconds it's just a mark in an odd distance not worth talking about - Dumbstrong!!
this superspike talk is ridiculous. you are zeroing in on one factor on many that has improved running times over the years. i mean just think about it how slow times were back in the day. people even before superspikes had so many advantages compared to them. their shoes pre-superspike are probably like superspikes compared to shoes people were running in ages ago. or even qualities of track. etc etc. no point in zeroing on this one factor when its small in scheme of things.
Not a small factor. Superspikes have immediately made a huge impact. The slower you go e.g. 3,000+ the more pronounced. I agree there is generally an upward progression but the 800 and 400 remain mostly stagnant, the 1500 is faster (Jakob an outlier for the most part), but the 3000-5000 is waaay faster. How many potential sub-12:45 guys do we have right now? Cheptegei, Kiplimo, Barega, Krop, Kimeli, Jakob, Fisher, Haile Bekele, Kejelcha, Gebrhiwet, Girma. 11 in one era means sub-12:45 is now more like a sub-12:50-2 in Bekeles era. To me it is a pretty immediate 1sec/km boost. Better tracks, wavelight are smaller deals than that.

Finally he has accepted that he has written an enormous amount of stupidity just in this thread.
Yes Dumby, A better than B is not decided by some formula, it's subjectiv for a big margin.
For you, to become GOAT, Ingebrigtsen has to set WRs in any event, has to win most Golds for any event, has to beat all the others in any race, has to dominate for 20 years...
For Elliott to be GOAT, retiring at age 22 after Gold with a WR does the job.

No formula needed - bias does the job.
The only true thing you said is that bias does the job. You show that with every post.

You said cross training was running on a treadmill. You argued with me, defending your statement.
Have you noticed how people here can talk to others without insulting them but you can't? It shows how how low your EQ is. And people with a low EQ tend to ignore evidence that proves they are wrong.
