I wonder if that billionaire CEO stuck in the sub would also insist that his rescuers be young wokes, or if at this perilous moment he'd want the most qualified people?

This is another update video going over the latest developments in the hunt for the submarine that went missing while attempting to dive the wreck of the Tit...
Today is the longest day of the year, so that buys some more time.
It's not the longest day of the year. All days are 24 hours. It is, though, the day with the longest period between sunrise & sunset. The Titanic is at 4000 meters depth. There is never any light.

The Northern Hemisphere experiences the longest period of sunlight today. The sunlight is crucial for maintaining the psychological conditions of the rescue workers; thus it is very lucky for the lost sub.
If it were winter the searchers would get cold and mood by like 3PM and give up and go home.

I'm out of ideas. The only thing I can think of is to bang the PlayStation remote continuously against the steel and hope the sonar can lock on.
There is no steel. The sub is made out of carbon fiber and I don't think banging against that would be very loud. There is a little titanium at the ends, maybe that would be better for banging.
You’d “get sucked off” from an airplane, not from a deep sea pod. You’d die because of the pressure squeezing your internals. Stop throwing stupid things at the wall.

You have 5 people literally dying a terrifying, torturous, horrible death as we sit here, and the internet is full of people denigrating them, hoping they won't be saved, and spitting on their names.
The internet has truly turned humans into barbarous wretches. It is pure evil.
I don't think anyone here is hoping they won't be saved. We all hope they will be saved. But we can still be critical of the company and CEO that never approved and certified the submersible and the billionaires who never even bothered to check if the craft was properly vetted.
That's not correct. All the passengers were required to sign a form that said the sub wasn't approved by the traditional approval agencies. It wasn't a secret.
He didn't want experienced submariners because they bring all that pesky red tape with them. What he's also quoted as saying is that existing regulatory bodies are "an anathema to rapid innovation" who have "slowed down innovation".
I noticed those quotes as well. That's the thing with regulations, everybody hates them - until something bad happens. Then everyone states the regulations are sacrosanct. Unfortunately we live in a society where we praise those who cut through the red tape, exploit the loopholes, and announce they know better than the collective knowledge of thousands of engineers.
I wouldn't mind if these individuals just took themselves to the grave, like that guy who built his own rocket to try to prove the earth was flat. But when they sell tickets to people and promise them they are in safe hands - that's another matter.

I am a billionaire who has made a fortune knowing everything that needs to be known about my industry/sector. My son and I are going down in a craft that has never been approved or certified and we will go down 2 and a half miles. Is there something wrong here?
It's a risky thing to do, whether or not it was officially approved. The space shuttle was officially approved and 2 of them fell apart. "Officially approved" doesn't mean "not risky".
