It probably means you had the minimum qualifications for the job so your resume was forwarded from the HR department to the head coach to be considered. Some schools have a level before the actual selectors to prevent the people doing the hiring from selecting people without the proper qualifications, or to weed out the unqualified and make the head coach's selection job easier.

Yes old Graceland coach was let go from Bacone and is now in a GA position coaching distance runners there. Throws GA now full time, great coach

This has been covered here before, most D3 jobs are 10 month. They pay a normal amount.
This job will probably pay close to 40k, but you'd better be aware, recruiting is the most important thing.

Why would Xavier let go of a sprint coach and hire another distance coach? Is Xavier transitioning to a distance only program?

I know a perfect candidate for the remaining assistant spot. Even has Clayton connections that go back 25 years. But they may opt for a female candidate.

UVA is adding Scott Jones to their staff as a volunteer coach. For all you folks who would find volunteering to be beneath them, watch this man bring his career back up to speed with good work in CVille. With experience in the Ivy League (Cornell), B1G (Illinois 2x) and the MAC (Akron), it won't be long before he's doing great things with this own program. Wah-Hoo-Wah!
