You’re not wrong. But whatever Mike is getting paid at NAU, the better P3/4 programs can afford to triple that. Colorado could at least double that if they want. Say all you want about the grass not being greener…but money often talks no matter who you are.

I thought it was common knowledge that Mike Smith was offered the Tennessee job before Carlson for nearly twice what he's making now at NAU - but he turned it down because there aren't any scholarships going to distance there. Maybe a different situation given Colorado's distance history, but apparently the money was not in fact talking.
