To some extent one must ignore the plight of others to amass billions for themself. That kind of money is ONLY made off leveraging the labor of others. While they may not start as sociopaths, they slowly become less and less bothered by poor working conditions and subsistence living of their employees as the amass profits. The more insulated they become using their money, the more abstract the idea of hurting their employees becomes.
Eventually billionaires conclude that they achieved their status due to hard work and genius while their employees are lazy an dumb and should be viewed with contempt.
The fact that they inherited millions or tens or hundreds of millions is a irrelevant starting point in their minds.
Some of these billionaires get so disgusted with the poor that they gain control of large media outlets and push a narrative that poor people are poor because they are lazy in a way that even the poor agree with. Then they push for tax breaks for the rich and pretend the subsequent investments will help those poor people. Next, they push to defund the welfare programs that their employees rely on. Then they push to cut public education because that is for poor lazy people. Nevermind that most of their employees function in their jobs due to public education.
The highly educated can see through this media blitz ruse and give evidence of its lies. Therefore elite educational institutes and law firms that back them must be taken down by billionaires.
Of course, simultaneously they are pouring money into electing candidates who will grant them tax havens, cut thos programs for the poor, and give them government contracts.
The people lose, bigly. The billionaires win by multiple orders of magnitude. The people cheer for their own demise because their billionaire controlled media tells them they won.
