Robert Young fakes run across America

Yes. The person who 18 months ago figured out this long running scam that has been going on for years was the person who shut down lisa scamming the legitimate charity on her fake transcon planned this year. Since then we have built a team across the country and internationally to tip people off about these folks. No legitimate race organization will deal with them at this point. Since lets run is now on this if you wanted to hail a real hero, we can put you in touch with the person who has exposed this for almost 2 years at their own expense and despite threats to shut up or else. Lots more at what a price that has come at too. I don't think that person wants a statue though just a safe sport.

Still waiting for lisa smith batchen to upload her gps data with cadence from her fake badwater quad 2 years ago. And the per dollar accounting of every dollar donated for '"clean water" from that fake run for her fake charity. And the gps with cadence data from her fake "50 miles in 50 states in 62 days" im 2010, the last couple of states she ran "on a broken foot". And the per dollar accounting of every dollar donated for that "charity" which is her.

Two examples of dozens. And dozens of fake charities all tied back to the same people.

When can we expect those gps uploads and charity accountings lisa?

One of the charities Rob is running for (100 Mile Club) was the organizer of the race Rob won.

I would say that's a pretty big conflict of interests.

The race even started at their headquarters.

I'm showing RY's tracker at 59 miles from yesterday afternoon's starting point on Cumberland Rd. east of Brownstown, to their current location just this side of Friendship Rd. and west of Martinsville. That's a total of about 18 hours, 30 minutes roughly, so about 18:49 minutes per mile, including all stops along the way.

What a great idea. You have a fake race, and everyone piles in their RVs and drives across the US, while doing promotion and pretend running.

They're hoping everyone forgets that pesky part. Or that they can keep people off task.

He said in the video that "it really isn't about the record, it is about the charities".

Well yeah! We see that now. And we see why.

So they can say that although the tracker says he made this amazing journey in X hours, it actually took him much longer. He "eventually" showed up at the trailer park.

Do I think he is cheating? Hell yes.

Do I think the current "facts" on the table regarding this day point to him cheating? It's not a smoking gun. I wish it was, but it's simply too vague.

He ran through the desert, unaided, in an undetermined length of time.

We have data from his TomTom screenshot that shows he stopped a run at 8:19am. The mileage from the other runs logged would put him just outside of Bannock.

We have data from the tracker that shows that they broke down just outside of Bannock a little after 8:00am. This is supported by the exif data from a photo of them in the desert with a tow truck at 8:52am. The exif data shows it was taken in Bannock. We know that RY was with them when the RV got stuck because there are photos and video of him trying to help them out.

We have a photo of RY by the pool in Laughlin, clearly having showered and changed clothes, at 12:52pm.

So if you're being charitable and drawing the quickest possible line between Bannock and Laughlin and leaving no time for showering and changing clothes, you're saying that he ran 23 miles through the desert over a 3,000 foot mountain range on unmarked roads (or no roads at all) with no maps and no support in 4.5 hours on a 95-degree day.

How did he figure out where he was going? Apple maps?

I would suggest instead asking GBOWR to provide a copy of the rules which RY's team were given explicitly for his attempt. Although someone posted the publicly available regulations which were published for an earlier female athlete for her attempt, it's possible they have told RY's team something different. I'm not sure if they would release that information without good cause, but it would be worth trying.

Ref the queries over charities: in the UK we have the Charity Commission which oversees charities, and takes down any including big ones when it turns out they haven't been entirely truthful (google 'Kids Company' and Camila Batmanghelidjh for a recent example). If donations are made via a site such as virginmoney, or justgiving, then the money goes directly to the charity with the fundraiser having no access to it. GoFundMe goes to any nominated bank account.

So, anything he has set up which is through one of the big sites (see

for details) has probably reached the intended recipient and is accountable and traceable - anything through GFM has gone. Just gone. If you have evidence of fraud then you can report via their site, but hearsay or anecdotal evidence isn't sufficient.

I expected this response. No, I have kids in a school with the 100 Mile Club. I know a little about the history of that program. I don't know it's budget or finances. I don't know anything about the other people and charities that you mention and I clearly said that. I posted simply to say that yours is an anonymous online critique that needs to be vetted. I'm not even trying to debunk what you claim. I don't know what is true or untrue of what you state. But those are very serious accusations and you should cite sources documenting this. I have never heard 100 Mile Club called a "fake charity."

That is the first time I hear that Lisa Smith Batchen supposedly cheated.

Any more facts on that?

Cory and Pamala (unusual spellings, neither have a Strava account - I checked) posted on his page about this.

What baffles me most from these blog posts if that *IF* the GWBOR has stipulated he has to be within sight of the RV or an independent observer at all times, then why all these excursions and solo running next to streams / through towns at 2am / into mountainous or desert areas with no-one alongside? Either it's not a requirement for the record, or he and his team missed that pretty critical requirement.

OK then, so the border crossing into "Indian" is about 22 n'a half miles, and the amazing little town of Martinsville, home of the world's largest horseshoe, is up next.
