If he's innocent then I don't really understand why he's approaching it the way he is. He could just drop the files people have asked for and then he, and everyone else, can move on.
Instead, posting a video showing that you're now intentionally messing with the data to 'piss people off' is just going to raise more eyebrows surely?

100% true. Though being a man child doesn't necessarily mean he's cheated. He could be an innocent man child if he dropped the files!

Not only is the guy clearly a deranged man-child, but it seems clear at this point there are major discrepancies in his run data that are not being addressed.

But the most suspicious part of this is his refusal to share Garmin files and referring to those questioning the data as haters. Does that include Rob Pope? He has asked to see Garmin data too to help clear Paul's name. I'd like to do the same. I hope he isn't cheating but every day that passes it seems more and more likely.
The fix for any missing, unexplainable or sub standard data is simple. StreetFerret multiplies any number by two and presents the results on a 30x18 white board in the basement. Problem solved. Move on.

I loved PJ's recent Instagram story where he intentionally showed he is going to put his watches over top of his coat sleeves so that there will be no heart rate data. If I were PJi would do the exact same thing just to piss off the haters that have no idea how to interpret the heart rate data along with the limitations of wrist watch heart rate reliability.
As I've said repeatedly, PJ is using trekking poles which is what is causing most of the cadence drop outs, it's not strange at all and is a widely expected. Search the official Garmin forums if you don't believe me.
The Garmin files are not going to show you anything conclusively one way or the other if you don't understand what I wrote above about heart rate and cadence.

Has anybody here accused him of not running at all? Not as far as I've seen.
The accusations are micro riding for some of the high elevation stretches, not that he's just riding in the van full stop.
Obviously he's still going to be tanned, obviously he's still going to be tired, obviously he's still going to look wrecked.
You are the only person asking the proper questions. Since we know from many photos and videos that PJ is using trekking poles, cadence drop outs and low cadence values can be expected to be seen in a sizeable portion of the data so cadence cannot be reliably used in this case as a signal.
It means that we have to look for sizeable portions of the data where the speed is above what is humanly achievable for an all day run. This is why it is so important to apply a proper noise filter to the GPS long and lat data before calculating speed since it comes in 1 second intervals and you would be swamped by relatively huge GPS errors.
Everyone on here that has been accusing PJ of cheating has been focusing on the wrong days and the wrong parts of the data because they don't know how to properly process it and what to look for.

Thanks Sneakers. What would be fun and a great experiment in the name of science would be if one of us could post a series of runs on Strava. Some of the runs would contain “riding in a van” portions and some would simply be running with trekking poles in order to get the cadence dropouts. Then, it would be fun for you to take a look at the runs and tell us which runs were legitimate and which weren’t. I’d do it myself, but no matter what I do, I can’t replicate a run that doesn’t record cadence. If we can find someone who can record zero cadence runs, would you be up to the challenge?

Trekking poles will impact cadence. But they shouldn't remove it. They shouldn't sporadically remove cadence data points for minutes at a time before returning. Curiously, in his earlier days of running before we suspected he was cheating, his cadence is rock solid on big climbs where he was presumably using trekking poles.
I hope your ability to download from Strava is better that your stupidly wrong conclusion that I have any relation to Paul or the crew

I would've thought you would know that is not equivalent to the golden source Garmin data. Strava is not providing the source data.
Sneakers blindly defending WG way back in this thread, so I doubt he's affiliated with PJ as well.
But yes, the Garmin file contains more than you'll get from Strava.
Considering dusting off the ol' Python and attempting some clustering. Just learned a lot about HDBSCAN for work and it's definitely overkill, but it would be fun to take for a spin. Sneakers, what's your favorite clustering algorithm? Can you enlighten us since you're a data expert?
