It is pretty clear this new head coach decided to coach the sprints because he wanted to justify hiring his wife. So he fires the popular black sprints coach who is also an alum on his staff and then hires his wife directly after...to coach just the vertical jumps....while also not hiring a distance coach and having volunteers oversee the XC season.....how does blatant nepotism like this still happen and how does this not turn into a lawsuit? Future is looking real bright for this program...
I guess the question is whether or not the assistant was considered for the director position. I always question why long time assistants aren't elevated to lead programs when previous directors/head coaches leave.

You know this sort of thing happens all the time in higher education with the full support of HR correct? To attract quality partnered candidates, HR "finds" positions within the university to attract the candidate they really want - who's partner needs a job to for it not to be a deal breaker. Usually when this happens in coaching, the new head coach hire tells the AD before they accept the job and the AD gives their full blessing to do so. No reason to think this didn't happen here as well unless you know otherwise. If you don't like this dynamic, don't go into college coaching.
