Sandra Vi going for record across America

No idea why that was a reply to my post. But it raises some interesting points.

The essential problem is that without 24/7 observation then even with watch data there is no concrete proof. All you know is a watch travelled from one side of the country to another. That means that essentially taken on trust.

Whilst Mimi's record shows she has some ultra multi day calibre that basically just starts her at a positive point, how she then chooses to conduct herself will see that trust go up and down for an impartial observer. Clearly for many people who know her personally that starting point is much higher and in many cases virtually immovable (see Andy Persson or Kev O'Rourke). Unfortunately what Mimi's record also shows is something I loathe (but this is just my personal feelings) in that she does things which seem to be about publicity. Why do a return run of Spartathlon? Why not just be the best you can in the actual race? I will never understand that mentality, but as I say that is just my personal perspective.

The thing is that not keeping the tracker charged raises concerns. The reaction of blaming the tracker company only compounds those concerns. Not taking advantage of cadence or HR technology when it's absolutely available (which may expose using alternate runners or riding if used) doesn't really add any positivity.

Calling somebody who chose to come out and observe "creepy" and encouraging the notion that you should only be allowed to observe if you can run with Mimi is a huge red flag. Loads of very experienced officianados aren't current runners, and in terms of witnessing why should they have to be?

Mimi's behaviour, or that of her team, hasn't been great. There has been a clear effort to lump those with reasoned scepticism in with the more ridiculous posters on here who just spout mindless crap. That's not right and it leads to more avenues of enquiry being opened.

I think Mimi is probably doing the run. I don't actually think she is going to succeed in her target of 53 days, but that's just my opinion. The thing is that the data could never prove she did the run but it can prove she didn't. I guess that's why people get so annoyed when it's treated with apparent contempt.

Mimi went off her intended course. She is sticking with the alternative route. It will not affect her distance very much, if at all.

Where did Marina start? I see a 46 mph breadcrumb at 3 am (the drive back to the starting point I assume) and then next one where she's running is a short distance away at 4:08 am. The Garmin tracks look like a spider's web. They're a complete mess.

I have her starting at 3:06 AM. There is a breadcrumb at 3:04 AM but she walked across a short driveway going backwards to the point she actually stopped.

Thanks I see it now. I was way too far east. She started at 3:06 and by 3:14 she already had to stop for something.

At the stopping point for each runner I take their Lat/Lon and enter it into Google maps and the next day I check to see if that is where they started. That makes is easier to decipher wild breadcrumbs points, like Mimi has had the last few days, that occur after the run and before the next day's start.

Well said.In my opinion Mimi started too aggressive through the Mojave desert. She had a great first week with an average over 60 miles per day.But it doesn't really matter what you do in the first week, it matters what you can do over 7-10 weeks.These kind of runs are really though and probably impossible to comprehend unless you have done something similar yourself.Let's hope she can recover and that she can reach New York.

Neither has stopped for a lunch break

Sandy should be in the Central time zone by now. Tomorrow both ladies will likely start at the exact same time.

She's a cheat, and I hope she's exposed.
