Once upon a time an American man wanted to build a golf course in Scotland because his mother was born there. He submitted the plans but was told no, because it would damage the special environment. But this man didn't like to be told no, so he promised great jobs and riches so he could get his own way. The local people still said no, so he used some powerful friends to make it happen. Now some of these local people had lived on this land for generations and didn't want to sell to the American. Instead of offering a better price, this man set out to bully and intimidate these people off their land. He cut power and water supplies, he piled dirt up around their homes so they couldn't see the sea view any more, but the people fought on. One local fought so hard he became quite well known he won a 'Scottish man of the year' award that was sponsored by a whisky company. The American man was so incensed and petty he banned every hotel he owned around the world from selling this whisky. Work still carried on with the golf course because the American got his way, but the riches never came and all the investment and jobs he promised at the start never came. The dunes were destroyed and the unique landscape spoiled forever.
And that is why the majority of Scottish people hate Trump with a passion...
