It was not chosen because it interferes with Trump's alleged campaign schedule. Every date prior to November 5, 2024 can be claimed to interfere with Trump's campaign schedule. Courts do not schedule trials around an unemployed defendant's hobbies and interests.
March 4, 2024 is two months after the date that the prosecution proposed (January 2, 2024). The Court declined that request by the prosecution.
March 4, 2024 is earlier than the April 2026 trial date that Trump ridiculously proposed which no one, probably not even Trump's lawyers, considered a real proposal. It wasn't a real proposal. It was joke.
The March 4, 2024 date provides Trump with ample time to sit and read all the discovery documents in his bathroom (see below).

And he is repeating the idiotic GOP talking point about 'shell companies'. Only one of those companies was a shell company as business lawyers understand the term. They all provided a product or services and functioned as a business. In setting up to do business internationally it is not unusual to use multiple companies. Lifelong political hacks and the average Trump supporter don't understand that.
Note also that the money figure tossed around by the GOP includes the money that went to business partners other than the Bidens. And none of it has been traced to Joe.

Interesting order today in Mark Meadows' federal removal case in Georgia.
"ORDER advising the parties that the Court requests limited additional briefing on the following issue: Count 1 of the Indictment (pertaining to Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), O.C.G.A. § 16-14-4(c)) contains a number of overt acts attributed to Mr. Meadows. Would a finding that at least one (but not all) of the overt acts charged occurred under the color of Meadows's office, be sufficient for federal removal of a criminal prosecution under 28 U.S.C. § 1442(a)(l)? So that looks good for Meadows, because it suggests (at least to me) that Judge Jones believes at least one of the allegations against Meadows occurred in his role as Chief of Staff. My guess is that one alleged act is enough to get him into federal court.
Also, we don't have the transcript yet, but from the little I saw reported, Meadows wasn't acting like he had snitched Trump out (although denying he asked for the McEntee memo was essentially saying that Trump was the one who asked for it).

the media has been out to lunch for 10 years. And the right wing and Trump especially know that he can control the media. He can say whatever lie he likes and they will report it and "both sides it". Trump (like Putin) does not care if his lies get debunked because nobody will remember that. They will remember the lie. It simply adds legitimacy.
If Trump says Joe Biden is prosecuting him. The media will report that. If Trump says it is election interference, the media will report that. If Trump says he can mentally declassify documents, the media will report that.
The good thing is that Courts are not the media. And that is why Trump and Co are having CAT 5 meltdowns about speedy trials.
