Is the Ginger Runner's channel dead? There has been no upload for 3 months ....
Yes, in the influencer sense. No, in that he still makes trail running-related media.
Years back, he pivoted to filmmaking of athletes for brands as well as his own channel. He's long stated his goal was to be behind the camera rather than in front.
Maybe it's the shoe companies that deserve flack and not the shoetubers.. they're willing to spend all the money on influencers while still charging all that money for the shoes.
Part of the reason I just bought a pair of Nikes! The ShoeTubers don't like Nike bc they don't give them much (if anything). Unlike say Puma and Diadora, who are both flying Kofuzi abroad.

Hmm... according to his Instagram he has still being doing loads of running podcasts but they've been patreon only and he promises more YouTube stuff shortly. So I don't think his 'YouTuber' career is over. Now, he really was an OG running YouTuber. Some very high quality stuff in there, particularly the documentary stuff. And I found his reviews very useful for trail shoes.

If the running podcast you're referencing is the Daily Brew, it's been going for at least 4 years now and has minimal running focus. Pretty much banter with patrons about anything and everything.
If you're interested in PNW jokes, mental health talks, and discussion about music and film, it's worth your time. If running is a focus, your money can be better spent elsewhere.
not seen any youtube cranks doing a vid for it yet but WTF happened at the Brighton 10km and marathon?
2:26 for the win in the marathon and 31:25 in the 10km is abysmal compared to a few years ago. that 10km used to have 20 under 30mins. have they changed the course? do they not do elite entry anymore? have they chopped down the prize money?
for an event which absolutely rakes in the money with extortionate entry fees and also take a healthy cut from the local hotels, the standard of the event has fallen of a cliff. guess its turning into another money spinning fun run
A few years ago there was a problem with them messing up the course measurement (the turn around cone at the VERY far end of the curse was in the wrong place) That meant that guy who crossed the official finish line (at something like 26.6miles) wasnt actually ahead at 26.2miles. So it was a kerfuffle to sort out.
That brought up the fact the event wasn't sanctioned by UK athletics so lots of people who used that course to get GFA for London weren't allowed to use their times. Let alone the insurance angle! Then around covid and just after they did the classic thing of stripping all the costs out but leaving the entry price high. So no bag drop on the day (1 lorry driving 3 miles ffs!) Less water stops etc. I also thought medical cover was a bit lacking after seeing someone go down with exhaustion and the nearest medics the thick end of a KM away!
Last year or so they changed the course as they stopped going out to Shoreham power station, which was a dead part of the course spectator wise, but thats life.
As the other poster said, I heard the old organisers "forgot" to pay prize fees. I spoke to a guy who was owed less than £100 from at least 2 years prior. He'd written it off obviously, but the principle irked! I know after my last one (2022) I wont be returning

There's also Manchester Marathon which is arguably now the 2nd best marathon in the UK (for running fast). I know that when you miss out on a London GFA or ballot entry there's instant offers for LME's other events... but it's so odd that one of the events hasnt been changed to Autumn? There's no marathons in the UK that are decent (inb4 Abingdon, its on footpaths and looks absolutely farmers league) for running fast, but arguably 4 options within a few weeks in spring. At the same time, if London, Brighton and Newport all sell out then there's no incentive for LME to move events - but it's certainly an oddity.
This comes up from time to time. Manchester should ABSOLUTELY be in Autumn! They'd clean up Love him or hate him Fordy said the other night there should be some kind of "uk majors" with 4 or 5 events. I tend to agree! If nothing else it helps the other races get some interest as London does dominate the publics consciousness!

The Ginger Runner (Ethan) is for sure one of the OGs.
Great filmmaker, former comedian, and in a lot of his videos he even did his own music!
Of course I'm biased because he did a film project on me (going into Western States 100 way back in 2016). Did that film project totally unfunded by a brand (he did have some Patreon support though I think, but otherwise he had to dig out of his own pockets to travel to Boulder to film and interview me before the race....as well as WS100 weekend.).
Awesome guy!... he basically has done it all as a content creator and "non-elite" and was a total OG. If he had done more road running shoe product stuff he probably would have a lot more subs and views (he deserves more!)...but trails are his passion (he even RDs the "Tiger Claw" event). Wish him the best.

Every time I read a post from you, I wait for you to spin it to something about yourself. I thought this one might finally be where I get caught out...

This is full on nuts. The guy openly talks about using THC gummies on his podcast. Also, alludes to the fact he won't be able to use them in Japan - due to THC products being illegal. Despite this, smuggles them into the country. For what? To get some arbitrary time to slightly boost his ego!
Self-(ab)use of newly defined “cannabis products,” which DOES NOT include innocuous cannabinoids such as CBD but DOES include smokable forms of the plant and its resin, is now an offense punishable under the NPSCL with maximum imprisonment for 7 years; under the CCL (before amendment), possession of the drug earned up ...
