As a female HC of men and women, from my experience, will say it is harder to command immediate respect. Both in the coaching community and from athletes. It takes time to build a successful resume to prove that. There are far fewer females that want the lifestyle and are going for jobs.
BUT I have gotten to where I am because of male coaches that believed in me and encouraged me and helped me grow. I would not be a coach without that support and belief. thoughts on growing female representation in coaching
-examples of successful female coaches, male coaches giving female coaches opportunities, even if there is a learning curve moving from an all male staff, better policies that support the duality of family and a sustainable coaching career from schools/ institutions, and groups like at the coaches convention to help female coaches feel less alone in it.
there are amazing coaches of all varieties and all we can do is try to keep making it better for the next generation.
