Why are they making it impossible for Jussie? Is this fair? The ball is in Jussie Smollett's court, and we're told the ONLY way he can stave off a grand jury investigation is to meet with cops and somehow convince them the "attack" was real.

As we reported, police "urgently" want a follow-up interview with Jussie ... this comes after Ola and Abel Osundairo told police they staged the so-called attack at Jussie's behest and even got paid for doing so.

We're told the call has gone out to his lawyers, but cops have not heard back. It's now complicated by the fact there are rumblings Jussie has a new lawyer -- Mark Geragos.

Our sources say cops are waiting to see if Geragos makes contact with them. Our sources say if Jussie refuses to speak with police -- which is almost a certainty -- the case will go directly to the grand jury.

Even if Jussie speaks to police, unless he pulls a rabbit out of a hat and convinces them the "attack" was real, the case is still going to the grand jury.

Our law enforcement sources say the grand jury will decide whether to indict Jussie on the felony crime of filing a false police report.

No word as to FBI action regarding the threat letter addressed to Jussie.

By the way, I’m a political independent who sometimes votes democratic and sometimes republican, though not so much since the rise of the tea party, then Trump, I admit.

Point to a single example of anyone "build[ing] a sweeping case against your political opponents" in this (other than the MSM). On the other hand, there's literally hundreds of examples of fake hoaxes that have made national news in last years, and as pointed out, about 90-95% seem to be from the victimhood complex that currently exists in left-wing politics.

Moreover, scores of Dem politicians instantly piled out (contra-Trump, associated this "lynching" with Trump or Pence and/or everything bad and noisome in USA today) in the immediate aftermath of Smollet's story. Only some to date have retracted, and none with the promptness of their former fervor.

Main thing is that this OP thread has only caught the aftermath, and curtailed the first 2 weeks when the media was lemmingly reiterating the narrative that desired. Set themselves for disappointment, as particularly by then the sense was clear to anyone not into pretense.

If only Jussie had treated GMA Robin Roberts as his chance for an Oprah moment like Lance did.

I'm just surprised how remarkably and hastily poorly planned (gets the camera direction wrong?) this all was. Sure, the police usually can even upturn professional hoaxsters (though MSM always gets fooled into its prejudices), but this was so far short of that to be comical. USA has this tradition of "believing people" (at least those who are low on the societal totempole -- or transversely high on the victimhood scale), but seriously, man, NO ONE was falling for this outside the virulent anti-Trump crowd.

Blacks seem to be more annoyed in the aftermath (and indeed soon after the "facts" were in) than gays.

What does that tell you? Is this a Chicago effect.

This is all going to keep on going until we ban M-A-G-A hats and Trump/Pence.

Let me put it this way: the people who insist that the Covington students were to blame for the confrontation at the pro life March in Washington have zero credibility because they refuse to acknowledge reality when it doesn’t align with their political agenda. Same with anyone still calling Smollet a victim , if there are such people. But anyone who denies that African American males are often the victims of unjustified police violence due to racial profiling is at least equally dishonest. Now these three things can be stated about the current president, and no reasonably intelligent and honest person can deny them: he is a proven bald-faced liar; he is grossly incompetent for the office that he holds; and, finally, he is a first class bigot.
