You said in your recap you stated that you're not sure if Bekele or Jeilan were DNFs or DNSs because you don't have a full video of the race. If you look at the Twitter video you have in your recap, in about 10th place you can see Jeilan with his hunched running style in a orange singlet. This shows he did start the race proving that he was indeed a DNF

Looks like that would be 6800m (8 laps to go). Leaders pass around 18:22 (27:00 pace), then Bekele about 9-10 sec later (27:15 pace, but likely slowing).
Also, looks like Jeilan in the orange top, going by in 7th in that video (about 3 sec off the leaders).

I agree that it looks like Bekele in 11th, but honestly it could be any Ethiopian.

It is, you can see his bib number, #1. That was Bekele's bib.

He sure didn't have enough time to prepare as well as he'd liked for a track race like that, but that was his last chance to take part in another Olympics so he had to give it a try at least. It was a last minute kinda thing but I heard he was doing some fast workouts in preparation for this race, but it doesn't seem like he had enough recovery. It's a big shame the Ethiopian Athletics Federation did not select him for the marathon team.
