Why does it matter so much if she was a woman? It doesn't matter any more or less than if she was a male instead.
Correct. In this situation it doesn't matter that she's a woman. I would still expect the guy to mutter a 'sorry' or something as he blasted his way to his amazing finish. However, my statement is regarding any situation where you make contact with a woman. I don't care if it's a double standard.
What???
I have an issue with this. Basically, you're saying that if the majority of posters disagree with you, that can't be true.
Guess what, you're wrong. Most people in this thread, and on a tri message board I read, are sympathetic to the guy. I think that it's obvious to most readers of her blog that she has a terrible attitude. Think "I'm awesome and can do no wrong" kind of person while she and her friends virulently attacked the guy. Also, why did they have to give the name and town of the guy? It is a trial by internet, and I think this akin to bullying.
Like you, I don't know what happened. But common sense tells me that no one wants to shove a fellow competitor at the end of an event. People who are there to race are focused on their own performance, period. If contact occurred, it was most likely an accident. That would have been my first reaction. I certainly wouldn't have written a law-and-order blog post or alerted my friends and the RD about the "narcissist, competitive athlete" who pushed me.
Maybe I have higher expectations for men than you do. Like I said, I really don't care if it was 100% her fault (I have a very hard time believing that it was completely unavoidable), my issue is with his actions (or lack thereof) afterwards. Any situation I can think of where I would be forced to collide with a woman, regardless of the circumstances, my reaction would be to apologize and/or help.
Imagine if this were a kid. Would you change your outlook if this turd plowed over a kid en-route to his finish without apologizing? Then go on to blame the kid later? No wonder most people can't stand triathletes. Abnormally high ratio of douche bags in that population.
