I wouldn’t be surprised if they are taking the Fresno state position. But that’s just my speculation based on a dual gender program and regional familiarity.
A few other All-Americans in that time frame Ann Marie Brooks - 1500m (2001), 5000m (2002) Serena Ramsey - 10,000m (2006) Ricky West - 800m (2012)
Nothing crazy, but not horrible in the distance when they are usually more field event heavy in the All-American category.
I really don't get the hate on Mizzou. They do ok for the budget they have, but every year this thread turns into an immediate Halter bashing session. He pushed hard to get one of the best XC venues in the country built, got a decent new indoor track and is getting a remodel on the outdoor track. Not bad when we are seeing cuts in Olympic sports all over the place.
It's filled. I asked their HR department about it as the whole classifying coaches as "temporary faculty" was confusing to me and they let me know that it has been filled.

What a dumb comment, they are in the SEC; they don’t have a limited budget. They don’t have a “decent” indoor track, they have a very nice indoor track. They are near the bottom year in and year out, he’s a terrible leader.
i'm thinking it was the head cross country coach / assistant track & field coach
Does anyone know what Hillsdale College is like? Seems like great facilities.
Hillsdale College is one of the most, if not the most, conservative colleges in the country. It doesn't accept federal funding, and it has an annual free market conference. Being the head coach there would be a perfect fit for rojo but it's a bit far to commute from Baltimore.
Portland State fired their sprint coach last week — after less than a year on the job.
That place is a total dumpster fire. What is going on there?
Ok. Now, a reason why so that potential applicants in the future can make an informed decision. The distance coach seems to be doing ok for what the school is/has.
Was it something the coach did(behavior) or was it a part of the usual embedded sports/cultural problem that plagues that athletic dept.?
The first would be a surprise, the second, not so much.
Portland State itself has a $35 million budget deficit. They're considering closing entire departments. My hunch is it wasn't a firing but a layoff and that there won't be a sprint program next year. They'll probably still honor scholarships but they don't really have to if they don't want to.
Nobody is removed mid-season and completely erased from web sites and social media over night if they aren't trying to distance themselves from someone for a cause.
Head coach is also MIA...hasn't been around the last several meets the team has had.
PSU is a massive mess, both fiscally and athletically. too bad, some great young athletes there that aren't being supported.

Why are people always seemingly talking about Portland State? Who cares, I didn’t even know that was a school that existed before this site.

There are pockets of people who go on this thread to trash the same schools. Usually it's Portland State, Iowa State, Missou, and a couple others. The thing you have to know about these threads is that several coaches watch this thread and usually those commenting are not actually in the know about much.
PSU keeps getting attentiont because they keep firing people and replacing coaches. There has been talk about the administration being a mess. Portland schools are just schools you'd assume should be really good and they aren't for some reason.
