Unbelievable. Holding up the start of the 4x400 because the Emperor has arrived. All bow.
There goes that free 4x400 record for Sydney

Downpour is massive, they can't run in this surely.
Stick passes are going to be treacherous.
When I watch the relay I like to pretend the US baton is a rolled up Declaration of Independence.

Jakob in shape makes the 2 laps before the last so hard that a 52 is not needed. The last 1k was 2.26 here so about 5 seconds slower than Jakob often makes it.
for the record, jakob closed the Paris Olympics in 3:54, 2:20, 1:50 (800)

Surely Matt Denny (Aus) gets his throw back. He slipped and then just threw it over the line as time ran out. Then they postponed.

Rains coming down now hard on the track. US 4x100 has a reason to fall back on if they blunder these handoffs
Why would they blunder the handoffs? Slippery batons?

Why wouldn’t Hocker give up his 5k spot to his dear friend Cooper Teare?? Come on, he’s already qualified for the 1500 team, how selfish can one be?
I was thinking of this as soon as he was dq'ed from the 1500m. And look at him now, world 5000m champion and 'that guy'. Amazing!

Another imaginary win for Jakob at the 2025 Tokyo World Championship, he's so talented.
Puddles in lane 1!

Correct. It's not over for Jakob. but this was also a 12:58, not 13:09 or 13:13. Hocker is gonna make his life hell
Norwood is running in a puddle, how is that fair?
Hocker ran the most patient race I’ve ever seen. When Grant made the move early he didn’t respond to it and that was key. No unnecessary surges. Literally his race plan was don’t make any moves til 300m to go. It was so simple.
WHAT. A. RACE.
That looked absolutely epic in the rain.
One of the best 4x400s I've ever seen
Omg Rai walked down
