The Ten is also next week in San Juan Capistrano, and usually attracts some top talent in the HS fields. It's famous for the pro 10000m fields, and it doesn't have much history yet for HS events, but so far the mile and 800m have had stronger fields. I just want to just talk about the Dublin 3200, quite literally one of the craziest races to actually watch. It was a back and forth between Caldwell and Fitchen-Young taking control of the pace. However, I was really surprised by Isaac Abbott, he was ambitious and gutsy trying to hang with the top dawgs- essentially pulling a JR Lesher. Part of me was thinking he would die out considering he was staying with Caldwell, Aydon, and Eli for the majority of the race. He moved up well and could’ve very well almost caught Eli, he almost had Aydon until the last few meters. I’m just saying that race was pretty insane compared to previous Dublin 3200 sombrero races.
will there be any big meets next week for the 3200
For the southern section, The Arcadia Distance Classic (not to be confused with the Arcadia Invitational) is next week. Last year it didn't draw as many top names like it has in the past. But I imagine it will attract some runners who are trying to qualify for the Invite or improve their seeding.
it’s usually not amazing but it has some good races. trabuco hills distance fest around the same time i think has better fields overall. reinhardt harrison showed up to arcadia distance classic a few years ago for some reason and ran 1:50.26 i think. only national meet he did that year LMAO

ten is always great. the high school fields are usually quite good, but i’m wondering what it’s gonna be like this year with MOC the week before, stanford the week after ten, and arcadia on the horizon. i’m not expecting crazy fields.
i hope he doesn’t end up being an early season wonder. he’s walked away with some impressive early season wins and times, reminds me a lot of connor dunne, san clemente 2016.

he's an aerobic machine. all the more impressive that he's run 1:53 this early on.
Abbott has historically competed well at big races from following his career. 15:30 D2 SJS champion. 15:04 at State helping his team make NXN. Then 53rd at NXN being one of the best returners. Then last night he was in there throwing punches with NorCal greats breaking 9 as a JR. Congrats to Lange…once again he has produced a stud.
Actually I’m pretty sure the majority of Jesuit’s 7 are either sick or injured minus Abbott. According to Strava, Hoferer barely had any workouts prior to Dublin (that kind of explains his performance in the mile)
Correction, Hoferer had a lack of mileage leading up to Dublin. Kadel was recovering from sickness. Alberts and Abbott seem to be the only healthy ones in Jesuit’s top 7

I noticed that Broen Holman wasn’t really in the conversation during the race. What happened to him? He’s an NXN, footlocker, and 8:54 3200m runner?
I think Broen may have hit a plataeu. Keep in mind, this guy is 19, he may be young but at 19 competing at high school level may already put you at a disadvantage since younger athletes develop quick and older athletes (at least in the high school context, tend to develop slower or already be at their peak). Not saying Broen isn’t in the conversation, but his age and his level of competition is something to keep in mind.

From what i've heard, he does very little milage, and has done that since before high school. I expect him to improve greatly in college once he starts doing more.
Or maybe he'll get injured and burn out. Hard to say.
