Another PR from Allie O — first race of the season she was 11 seconds off her PR from her first act, now she’s 5 seconds faster than she ever was. Hope she keeps going, shes still relatively young
She really sounded mature and articulate in that interview after the steeple heat. Love her!
I posted in a couple threads that Allie O getting 7th would be a very good result for her and it was.
She did well and can be proud of herself to run a PR after her injuries and ED. I would love an expert opinion on her hurdling though. As a fan it was a little painful to watch her jumps and seemed like she lost a place every time. I wonder if it's because she's pretty short, or just lack of practice.
She clipped her toe on the water jump and stumbled, and then goes down after the next hurdle. I think she was just totally gassed and couldn't maintain her coordination. SUCH a bummer.
Definitely. In hindsight, she may have benefited from being a little more patient in the last 800. Also, if she’d been content with 4th place in a huge 9:08 PB she probably could’ve stayed on her feet, but obviously that wasn’t gonna happen. She still ran a 3 second PB even with a 25 second last 100m, so it figures she was gassed.
This was a great race for American women’s steeple. Big PRs for both the vets and the recent collegians Mitchell, Markezich and Halladay. In a sorta funny way you have to tip your cap to Rodenfels, who went out way too fast (3:00), looked ridiculous at every barrier and still ran a PB/Olympic standard.
What a race. Almost all of the athletes PB'd. I was gutted for Jennings, another fourth...I was really rooting for her to make this team!! Allie O ran a great race. I think Markezich would have made the team if she didn't fall...This was one of the best races of the trials so far imo! Men's 1500m was amazing too.
