I was expecting around 4:02-4:03. Seems like that was the concensus. That makes her performance a major disappointment for most of us fans.
Maybe look at this race as a solid effort that highlighted a few areas to improve, somewhat like the 2021 BU 3000m season opener. Tuohy overextended herself in the opening 800 but still kept pace with Cranny's 4:09 from last week. This would have been a disappointing race for Heather Maclean or Sinclaire Johnson, but Tuohy’s rolling just fine.

Cranny ran 4:07
Sinclaire Johnson's only 1500m time for 2023 so far is 4:08.34.
Some people got a bit carried away by Tuohy's extraordinary indoor performances. She might fully live up to them during the season, or she might not. Apparently she thought she could run faster but it was still a good race, she held it up well, despite what turned out to be a too ambitious early pace. This is also something she has to learn to deal with.
So some of the critics are also exaggerating. If the professionals start the season 5-8 sec. or more slower than their best, give a 21 yo some slack and don't expect PBs in every race.
Well after a relatively quiet start to outdoor 5000U is actually off to a pretty good start.

now add Loveys 16:05 (Princeton grad transfer) and Shultz 16:09 pr from Penn relays and the candidates for xc spots 5-7 keep building. Note: Rauber not listed here yet and Shaw possibly has no more xc eligibility.
It was nice to see Jenna Schulz back competing. Understand she's had some injury issues recently so that's a pretty good time for her first race back. I'm familiar with her from her NY days.
