Thanks. Felix looked so much slower. Happy for the gold.
split screen of Hassan interview with McDermott jumping is kind of neat.

At least show the high jump. I've heard about Alison Felix enough this olympics.
Eurosport showing lots of high jump; they only cut to 4x400 when the team intros started.
Peacock is showing the whole high jump.

You cannot compare the first leg split to the last leg split. Standing start and deceleration at the pass versus running start and running through the line. Complete apples to golf balls.
She was clocked as handing off the first leg at 49.9 though. It was average. Dalilah took the baton early, I think her and Athing ran longer legs too.
it is not clocked at handoff, it is clocked when the baton goes through the midway point of the handoff zone, regardless of when it is passed.
Only Mu was below 49. right around 48.2. Muhammad had second best split at 49.2, which is roughly equal to Syd's 49.9 from blocks. Felix running same time in relay as her open time is a bit disappointing. But you would have liked at least half a second faster from Syd and and Dalilah as well.

I have to imagine Chopra is. Commentator said 1st gold for India in Tokyo, alongside first gold for India in track? Not sure about that last one, but that’s what I’ve heard.
Basically first by a true son of Bharat, some brit born in India won medals in 1900
Everybody just missed 2.04

Vetter was the heavy favourite in the javelin after throwing over 90m so often this season but couldn't perform today :(
Vetter really suffered because of the track crumbling under him. You could see that especially in his second throw. Unfortunately, it's not too uncommon that modern very fast tracks are not firm enough at least for bigger throwers like Vetter. Maybe they should use a different type of surface on the javelin runways than on rest of the track.
Does the US have Omar Little on its 4x400?
Price needed to get out of the way better for Canada on the 4x400. Couple teams almost ran into her after she handed of the baton.
Why tf is Randolph Ross not on this 4x400????
Forza italia?
Great US men's team, this will be our last chance at a track gold or this will be the first Olympics ever since 1896 when we don't win one save the 1980 boycott. Hoping Botswana gets on the medal table as well

Not so sure that Miller-Uibo would have beaten Mu in the open. Double for Mu in Eugene for sure.
The exchange zones are 20 meters long. Any leg could be the shortest or longest measuring handoff to handoff. Potential ranges are as follows
1st leg- 390-410
2nd leg- 380-420
3rd leg- 380- 420
4th leg- 390-410
In practice, I imagine most world class 4 x4s legs are consistently 395 to 405 meters handoff to handoff.
The first 4x4 leg is generally given to the most consistent and technically sound runner.
Norman at the break into 3rd
Deadmon pulled away at 3rd leg, to Benjamin
2:55.7. #4 all time, equally impressive to the ladies.
