WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. ??? Palm Beach Atlantic Director of Athletics Courtney Lovely Evans has announced Mark Rennix as the next head coach for the Sailfish cross country
University of South Carolina | Head Cross Country Coach
A couple things about this job opening.
1. They will NOT be adding Track any time soon.
2. There is a Title 9 investigation against the AD regarding a disability discrimination against a coach. he has admitted to the accusations, but defended it as that he didn't know, even though HR and the whole athletic staff knew.
3. There will be a lawsuit against the university and athletic program regarding this issue when the EEOC investigation is concluded.

What does this have to do with cross country? What happened to Brock?

Lol so basically get the AD fired and add track and field and it's a goldmine!
That place is a revolving door of former yoga instructors and other half-committed people, probably until the last guy. Last guy sees what it can be and pushes for more from administration, while administration is content with just having a counter sport to maintain DII membership. There's a common thread of jobs that appear here every other year. Buyer beware when getting that resume out there.

Yeah, the last coach (Marshall) had the program moving in the right direction, even though there was no track program. Last season USCA had 4 XC Runner of the weeks, and an Elite 18 winner. They were decent, considering they were finishing last in the PBC every year prior.
He shared with me that the AD was upset that he would take the runners to spring track meets, which the NCAA allows you to go to 5. He wanted the runners to rest and focus on academics in the spring.
The applicants need to be someone that will do only what administration says, and not push for what is best for the runners / running program.

Just be aware of what you are walking into.
If you meet Marshall, and knew how patient he is with admiration you'd understand how bad admiration is at Aikens.
Salem College in NC is doing interviews, and they are looking to set up the running program the right way. They are adding XC and Track & Field at the same time. They are hiring a Director of XC/ T&F and then hiring 1 full time assistant, a part time assistant, and a Grad student. They will be practicing at Wake Forest U. The requirement is to have 25 athletes on the roster by year 2. So, the coach will need to be a talented recruiter.
I was impressed with the AD when I spoke with him this week.
The position pays $45,000 and you will also have a secondary responsibility in the athletic department. The secondary positions will be 1 of 5 and he will let you pick what is best for you. Examples- In charge of ticket sales, In charge of fundraising, SID role, in charge of intramurals, and lastly a weight training coach for all sports. There is no secondary additional pay.

I don't think Wake is going to give up much track time for a D3 school.
Girls only so they want 25 Female SA's to a D3, which is a tall task. They have a nice campus though.
The secondary position thing is ridiculous considering the recruiting requirement. You should take it if you're that impressed

Yeah I agree that 25 is a tall task. With it being a D3 school, only female campus, 2.8 or higher gpa accepted, old style dorms (community bathrooms), and the cost is $47,000, that is asking a lot. Plus having to have that secondary responsibility prevents a coach from reaching full recruiting potential, as this cuts into the already small window of family / personal time.

Marshdog you need to calm down with the posts.
No one cares enough about this job to read the 3 pages of "insider info" and self flagellation you've posted.
