So if the queen visited the US and someone made a nasty balloon caricature of her paid for with private funds, and if Trump gave the OK to fly the balloon over the White House while she was there, and if you said that the balloon was state sponsored, and I replied that state didn’t pay for it so it wasn’t state sponsored ... what would you say to me?
Such a bizarre way of constructing your hyperthetical counter argument but ok:
1. I wouldn’t say it was state sponsored because I know the difference between state funds and private funds.
2. If, as in your hyperthetical, I had said “it was state sponsored” and then you said to me “the state didn’t pay for it”, I would then say “sorry, my mistake, you are correct, it isn’t state sponsored.” (See how convoluted my reply has to be).
3. Everyone both sides of the Atlantic has a right to protest.
4. You should apologize or retract your statement.
You wouldn't do any of that and you know it. If Trump gave the OK to fly a grotesque caricature of the Queen over the White House during her visit you would join the rest of the world in hyper-outrage over the disrespect shown to another country's leader by a representative of all the people, and you wouldn't give a damn who paid for it. Man/Woman/Trans up and admit it.
I like your typo "hyperthetical". It doesn't have a meaning yet so I say we give it one and start using it.
