She coaches someone at my club, found out through them. Confirmed on her private socials.
Her Strava is still uploading runs from the same place they have an apartment together. IDK about you but if I just broke up with someone I wouldn't be still staying in a one bedroom apartment with them, I'd move out, so this all seems unlikely.
Also Ben Parkes calls her "his girlfriend" in his latest video.. let's end this fanfiction here haha
not seen any youtube cranks doing a vid for it yet but WTF happened at the Brighton 10km and marathon?
2:26 for the win in the marathon and 31:25 in the 10km is abysmal compared to a few years ago. that 10km used to have 20 under 30mins. have they changed the course? do they not do elite entry anymore? have they chopped down the prize money?
for an event which absolutely rakes in the money with extortionate entry fees and also take a healthy cut from the local hotels, the standard of the event has fallen of a cliff. guess its turning into another money spinning fun run
I'm surprised @poetwithpace doesn't get more of a mention and following on this discussion. Random fact is that he was one of the original running youtubers and has been producing films and content for over 9 years with his GoPro and giving live commentary during races.
He also posted this comment almost word for word in an attention seeking comment 'welcoming' Alex Yee to the world of YouTube.
Seems he (you) have decided to try and garner a bit more attention here as well.
Quick tip - we aren't the kinds of people you want watching your channel. Apart from a few more pathetic views you won't gain anything positive from us.

Par for the course for London Marathon Events, they’ve also restricted Championship entry for future London Marathons and the ones to miss out will go in to good for age. All about the fun runners, they’ve also restricted are the vast majority and spend the most at the expo so they will target that demographic.
With regards to Brighton the marathon winning time wasnt that bad given the conditions compared to the last few years. I thought the 10k wasn’t very competitive as well, the course has changed slightly starting at Hove Prom and going out and back along the seafront rather than up by the level. It’s still relatively flat but exposed to the elements, shouldn’t have been much of an issue with a tailwind most of the last 5k.
There was a big furore before as the previous organisers never bothered paying out advertised prize money to winners. A lot of good runners likely boycott it for this reason and no reason for LME to offer prize money when they are being lauded as “the saviours of the race” and prefer the fun runners anyway.

The winner was pretty legit - was not the easiest of days. Think he was nearly 10-mins ahead of second. Not even any sub-elite times for the women - with some absolute legend on a hen doo coming third in just under three hours in fancy dress! I'd don't really care to see legit runners doing it; however, I'd love Felton or Bester to have a stab

And for his age he's a top class runner, pretty sure he's mid 60's now.

It would be quite funny to see one of them 2 winning the race while filming away on the GoPro the whole way. It’s a shame more of 2:15-2:30 runners in the SEast (there’s plenty of them) don’t do Brighton but I guess if you can run that time you’re going to be in the Championship wave at London and I know which event I would rather do.
Come on then, let’s have it. Todays discussion is peoples opinions on the following ‘influencers’ and their channel:
THIS MESSY HAPPY
They seem to be prolific short-form content creators. At first, Ben came across a classic PE teacher/personal trainer broscience type guy. Almost like a hybrid athlete before it was a thing. In many ways, his advice still seems shallow and poorly researched. I think they were also friends with Matt Fox, bigging him up recently on a video.
However, clickbait aside, they seem a nice enough couple.
They don't seem to hawk s**t like KetoneIQ and socks (Ben is selling style). Rather, their social media seems to funnel people into their coaching programs. They are now full-time coaches.

I do wonder why, must be more to it than the pull of London. A 2.30 local legend could run round their home town and potentially win; I would have though that's better than coming in the top 100 at London. Perhaps it has a fun run reputation. Or, it's not as fast.

Maybe the cost as well, it’s £70-80. And you’re right, it’s not the quickest course and you are at the mercy of the weather on the day. Very unlikely to run a quick time and have other quality runners to work with compared to London, Seville, Valencia, Berlin, Frankfurt, Rotterdam, Amsterdam etc

Has the course changed? Because Kenyans used to come over and run it in sub 2:10
We're in this weird situation where London Marathon Events own:
- London
- Brighton
- Newport
And all happen within 3 weeks of each other. There's also Manchester Marathon which is arguably now the 2nd best marathon in the UK (for running fast).
I know that when you miss out on a London GFA or ballot entry there's instant offers for LME's other events... but it's so odd that one of the events hasnt been changed to Autumn? There's no marathons in the UK that are decent (inb4 Abingdon, its on footpaths and looks absolutely farmers league) for running fast, but arguably 4 options within a few weeks in spring.
At the same time, if London, Brighton and Newport all sell out then there's no incentive for LME to move events - but it's certainly an oddity.

They live abroad in a low cost of living country, which probably means they don't need to make as much as other YouTubers. There are two running YouTubers with small to mid sized channels that live abroad and do it full time. Sagasu is the other one. It's an interesting business model.

Does Sagasu like in Thailand or Cambodia? He looks that type

I was actually thinking the other day that Manchester should be an autumn marathon. Chester is fast(ish) and is in the autumn but nothing else

Only slightly, still got all the same hills and seafront exposure. The main change is no more prize money.
