Hey Turkdog - can you post the name of the massage therapist that Meyers works with? I am in the Philly area and would be v interested in seeing if he/she could make sure I avoid the scar tissue nightmare. I had a bilateral with Dr UM and am feeling great but want to be more proactive this time around... thanks!

How did things go? Did you go see UM? If you waited, you might go see Dr. Jeff Hoadley in Atlanta if that is where you reside. He isn't mentioned on this thread as often, but he performed my surgery back in May. I feel very good. I am about 6 months out and still playing soccer... I have a tournament game this weekend. My fitness level still isn't where I want to be, but I have no pain in my groin anymore. I continue to do core work, but I don't do it every day as I had been before. I do it mostly as maintenance now in between training and games.
I don't think surgery is the answer for everyone, but I dealt with groin pain and inflammation for almost two years. I did rehab during that time with very little result. The surgery helped me recover in 4 months. I am about six months out now and very happy with the result from Dr. Hoadley.
Anyone have any experience with a lipoma of the spermatic cord.
It seems I have one on my right side now after getting my left inguinal hernias corrected earlier this year.

Because I'm fat right now I have lipomas all over my body. No big deal. What do you mean "lipoma on my spermatic cord". Be more specific about the location. Did any doctor diagnose you?

The lipoma is on the spermatic cord, diagonosed on a sonogram, by the dr.
I had bilateral sports hernia repair by Dr. Cattey at the end of October and am nervous with how much I still feel in my abdominals and the soreness I have in my adductors. I started running 2 mi every other day and spinning on alternate days. Can you give me any advice since you are about 3 weeks ahead of me?

How that lipoma bothers you? In my case when I lose fat a lot the lipomas decrease in size to a minimum (the big ones) and the small ones disappear. As you know there is internal fat around our organs which has to be and never goes away. I'm no doctor but I really don't think that you have to be concerned as long as it doesn't affect you in any way.

Its tend to give me hernia like symptoms. Just discomfort/pain on the right side groin area. I am trying to loose a few lbs maybe it will help.
The surgeon looked on the right side when he fixed the left inguinals, said he saw nothing. I was reading its common to develop lipoma of the cord, when you have inguinal hernias.
If it keeps bothering after I loose more weight I may just have to get it removed. I dont know what is involved in the surgery, lets see
I heard Dr. UM talking about herniation fat. In my case was fat under the skin (belly fat) that through the tear (before the surgery) was poking the ilio-inguinal nerve. So it didn't form there but under pressure was coming from the fat layer underneath the skin. Losing couple of lbs is always a good idea if you have from where to lose. Easy and steady with a balanced diet full of nutrients and vitamins. Keep positive attitude. Maybe there is a way to remove it without the surgery (laser like for kidney stone) or suction. Definitely is not like a full blown hernia or SH. Just my 2 cents.

My PT was booked until week 4, however the post-op protocol should have you on track up till week 3. My PT is using the protocol as a guideline and the focus is on technique, not quantity. I run 2miles first, then, foam roller/hips/squats/calfs/lunges/roller again/stretch/hot tub stretches/. I try to run in the pool, but its hard when i'm already doing sprints at 8.0 on the treadmill, but i'll switch it up. Your hip exercises should really really be tough, do not lean to one side or hike your hip up during flexion,extension,adduction,abduction. you should be completely balanced even though one leg is off the ground.
Day 32 for me and i'm already better then i was before the surgery. lower back pain is minimal but does come and go, i think sitting at work for 8 hrs is what causes my to act up. If i'm out up and about, walking around so issues at all.

phone number is there, her name is Tree, tell her Metin set you. There are instruction on the site, but i dont recommend you attempt this without seeing her first!!!! You will never understand the technique unless you see her. Keep calling her and make an appointment. Don't expect some fancy massage, her technique is unique and gently and it will vary for those who have had adductor releases or not. You cannot spend more then 10mins on the adductors or else you will cause more damage then good and the scar tissue cycle can restart, which is not good at all.
If I were in philly, I'd see her minimum once a week. I'm 3hrs away, and in the last 4wks i drove up twice just for a 15-20min massage.

Still not clear for me. Did you do or not any rehab until beginning of week 4? I'm now 2 weeks post-op and I still have pains in the lower up and discomfort on adductors. I'm massaging the adductors myself 10 min each every other day though. On one of the surgery paperwork from Dr. UM was saying that you can start rehab when you're pain free and I'm not. Could you be please a little bit more specific on that? I have an ART specialist 50 min away from. One of the best in Ca. I'm going to see him next week. You guys are lucky to see a massage specialist in SH surgeries like the one you have in Philly.

Good for you rugby guy. I don't remember, have you been diagnosed with SH?
