The power 5 schools have been able to hire female coaches with the increase in staff. It is good for the sport to have women coaching.
If they’re qualified.. hiring a female with 0 experience over other applicants with years of success is stupid. If a male candidate with no experience is hired over a qualified female applicant, that’s also stupid, and would probably be tied up in a lawsuit.
Hire the best person for the job. Period.
If that's all we ever did, then we'd mostly only have old white male coaches to coach a sport of young diverse students. Diversity of thought, age, experience, and representation does have a positive impact on a program and its athletes. Plus its good for then future of the sport to develop new talent. There is more to putting together a great staff than just a collection of individual resumes.

Come on man, you don't like women, because I have never seen you post about the many men with 0 years of experience. Everybody has to have a first job.
The University of Pittsburgh Track and Field team has added Jon Yohman to its staff, as announced by Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country,
Hiring women in these assistant to assistant positions is barely progress.
Hiring ONE woman in a 8 to 10 person staff is a laughable attempt at equity
I guess you all feel that because they have title “coach” instead of d-ops they should be grateful
Such a sad thing. One woman gets a low paying shot at this sport then there's a million responses to follow. Many would be surprised the average collegiate salary for a woman.
It is shame. I agree but little progress is better than no progress. There are a lot of good female coaches but there is still a belief by some that women can't coach. Obviously that is false
Great chance for a young multi's coach to build their own group inside a program with growing success... UNO has always been a great stop before jumping into the P5 level!
