I don't believe that I was swindled. I had very low expectations for Trump and I'm not naive enough to believe that the President of this country, standing alone, has much power at all these days. I doubt that we would be seeing markedly different policies enacted had Hillary won. Regardless, the MSM will go on sowing division between the left and the right because it keeps us from coming together against the globalist billionaires, who have far too much power in the World these days. Divide and conquer!
The silver lining for me is that Trump DID incite a major backlash against SJWs / the regressive left, the MSM's dishonest reporting/propaganda and industry appointed "experts" who receive most of their funding (sometimes indirectly) from billionaires. This alone makes me very happy that Trump ran for President.
The citizenry - both in the U.S. and abroad - is becoming less "unaware and compliant."

This is what I find most scary. A large chunk of Trump supporters probably feel this way. They voted him in and are ok with holding him to the lowest standards of governance. If your expectations are low that can only mean Trump has a lot of upside in your eyes. Were you that excited about the prospects of someone "mixing things up" that you turned a blind eye to all that's disastrous about this guy?
I think this a completely wasted opportunity. I too like the idea of an outsider doing things differently, but there is zero question Trump is not qualified to lead a country. Politics will be in much worse shape when he leaves office and people won't want to give an outsider a chance again. You have very weak standards if you are excited about the "change" he brings.
I don't view Trump as a "wasted opportunity". Trump's major victory, as I alluded to earlier, was that he took on the MSM and he won!
Since his election campaign, there has been an exponential growth in independent news reporting on sites like youtube. People are fed up with the MSM and are looking for alternatives. This will open the door for more open discussions about government policy, rather than having the parameters of debate set by whatever narrative the elite-controlled MSM is currently pushing. While, sure, some of the news out there might be sketchy, it can't be much worse than the crap spewed by many MSM outlets.
For example, take a look at the hack job that CBS did reporting on the Black Bloc communist who was punched in the face at the latest Berkeley riot: The MSM casts her as a poor victim who was abused by a violent white supremacist. The real story is that she posted on Twitter earlier in the day that she was going to take 100 Nazi scalps at the free speech rally and she was throwing and striking people with wine bottles that she was carrying in her backpack.
Here's the story you get from the MSM (note that the video, which was posted to youtube by CBS has 193 "likes" and 23,398 "dislikes.")
