Keep in mind Duane served a ban and was revoked his Olympian status (as he competed at the Games while doping). But yeah, let's keep saying it's "good coaching"

He's making 500k your going to be expected to win.

The Tennessee AD won't care what he did at A and T if he can't win at Tennessee. Proving that an HBCU could compete does nothing for Mike White if Ross is putting up performances like he did last year. When you're half a mil and 12 coaches you're expected to win you're not going to get leeway because of what you've done for the image of HBCUs

What about his women's placing 4th that same year. If you sit here and say that his son failed drug test whatever it was means that he is not a good coach or that he didn't have a good program. You're just a hater. You keep pointing out something that nobody is arguing young man. I am telling you that there was evidence of beyond that year fool. You have an issue with the man I don't know why. Pat Henry is making good money he ain't winning no title any time soon, Dan Waters ain't winning one, Connie Price ain't winning one etc.. There are plenty of Directors making 300k plus that won't win a title. I don't know why Bev got canned but AD didn't want her anymore.

I have an issue with dopers who promote doping, existing in our sport, yes.

You have a problem with the guy or just not fan on Tennessee program/ AD. Ross has to recruit and build. Plenty of power 5 school has a lot coaches Mizzou, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Illinois, etc.. Nobody is arguing the drug test or ban. I am simply saying beyond that year he has shown his ability to coach well before that. 2 out of the many dozen All American can't disqualify him.

Pat Henry has a boat load of titles at A and M.

Waters just won two SEC xc titles and came second in the nation, and has won SEC track titles.

Connie price has a nationally ranked xc and track team in the 3rd hardest school to win at in the conference.

He has more resources then all of them. If he can't at least match beths finish at nats in the next two years he'll be gone.

I honestly think the same about Henry but I assume he's on a long contract and a and m hasn't won anything in any sport besides track so they're keeping him around

The closest he got to winning an NCAA championship was 11 points indoors in 2022. They had 36 to Texas' 47.

10 points from his son - currently serving a drug ban

10 points from Javonte Harding in the 200 - who transferred to Tennessee and is doing much worse

8 points from Leonard Mustari in the hurdles - who transferred to Tennessee and is doing much worse.

It clearly looks like the increased drug testing at Tennessee is hurting him. If he is such a great coach, why did Harding and Mustari get WORSE at a school with infinitely more resources?

It's not even that he's a bad coach. Honestly he deserved the Tennessee job for what he did in Greensboro, but you need to perform when you get that job.

This isn't a charity at that level it's about winning he needs to win or they'll find someone that will for the investment they gave him.

If he can't come close to replicating the A and T success it'll be a bit weird so it's somewhat correct to ask questions on what caused the previous success and what went wrong at Tennessee(doesn't necessarily mean drugs, could be culture, time to build a foundation, bigger emphasis on the conference meet, ability to stash kids who were in academic trouble at a and t etc.)

This is year two man. You act like the guy been there 5 years. The squad that placed 3rd before he got there ain't the team he coached. That's like saying the guy who took over at NC A&T should be canned for not producing similar results. He has to produce but to have such a negative tone about the guy ain't right. Plenty of programs that we thought would show up last year came up short.

If he can't place better than 3rd at Indoor/Outdoor nationals in 5 years, then can him even though Bev was given 8 years. I think the rumblings started around year 6. Let's not trash talk the guy in year two. This recruiting year will be a good indicator of the direction of the program

The great thing is that Track titles are won on the track and not on let's run. I have definitely seen the experts on Let's run be wrong a lot. 😆 🤣 😂

This is the transfer portal era, saying "the number 3 team wasn't the team he coached is a pretty dumb argument". It's his job to keep that team together and bring in the same level of talent. He brought the meat of the A and T team that came third ( minus his son only because of the drug bust), was handed a significantly better distance team then Beth ever created and still bombed in indoor especially.

He's not getting 5 years if he doesn't perform. The way they set up the program money and scholarship wise with NIL etc was to compete for titles from the gun. That's why he's cycling his coaching staff at the moment.

I don't know why he would be held to a lower standard then anyone else in his position solely because he's coming from an HBCU. His recruiting has also been fine but he's not lighting the world on fire. It seems like he's struggling a bit with having to get kids that can instantly win for him in the SEC as opposed to getting the time to develop

You seem to be conflating what the standards of performance for him will be with a prediction on what will happen. I'm sure he has the ability to make it happen but he's not going to get time to mess around if they don't get it done based on the investment they've made in the program.

Man I just think you have a problem with the fact that they put a lot of money into the program under him. Nobody said anything about holding him to a lower standard. Who else should be on the hot seat plenty of power 5 coaches ain't done jack in years. So who else man or do you just hate that they put a lot of money into the program. I don't hear anyone saying this about mizzoui I believe they have 10 coaches. That means Mizzoui coach is done after this year right?

Instead of looking at the investment as something to put a coach on the hot seat we should be saying hey why can't my AD make an investment into our program. We all should be asking for more. I don't think 11 is the number but 7 coaches, an ops and recruiting coordinator would be nice

You seem to somehow not realize that with that investment comes expectations. It's track and field, they're not investing in it to make money they're investing because they want a national title as soon as possible
