Robert Young fakes run across America

I have an update. I've been corresponding with the ultra guys who are now tracking RY. Here is what they said.I asked them, "Have you asked RY for his GPS data?" Their reply.

Having seen that, my new thought is to contact Strava and see if I can get one of their representatives to fly out to Indy to meet the group and upload the data for them. Then there would be nothing to worry about.

I also asked them how long would RY be tracked. It would only take one night of cheating to make the record - which RYapparently isn't eligible for since he's been running behind the vehicle - possible.

They ultra guys have said they will follow him all the way to the finish!!!

The time stamps appear to be EDT, at least in Kansas. The surveillance video at the car wash shows a time of 22:43 local time (10:43 PM CDT). The nearby time stamp on the kml file shows 23:38, which would be 11:38 PM EDT. But I'm not sure if the time stamps ever adjusted when crossing time zones. I doubt it. But maybe someone else can clarify.

I agree. To me the Bannock (I can only assume their town is the shortened form of Banana Hammock) to Laughlin photo timestamps were the smoking gun. Until this topic came about... at which point, there was a smoking video. Or 3.

There is no adjustment of TimeZone in the data for crossing time zones. It is all simply in Eastern Time. Straight subtract however many hours is appropriate to know what time it was in any other time zone relative to Eastern.

To fuss with this -- wife thinks I'm nuts, she Probably is right. Would be great if we have a well formatted timeline of videos and photos or other claims to help isolate interesting segments.

Interested to hear other ideas. Thought csv would be the easiest.

Remember the tracker can always be flames to have been on the vehicle. Need to start looking at bigger picture like you guys have been doing like how far did he go in an hour, when did they go ahead and then double back etc. we can figure that out but not with the csv I posted.

Our protagonist has just crossed the city limits into 'effing'Ham. First 4 hours this evening were about 18.5 miles so about a 12:55 per mile pace, which is trending faster.

There is a chance here that he will make his 60 mile per day average or so now until the finish to get the record. He could walk that amount per day with the proper "nutrition" and "recovery". Now, if he does that there is also a possibility that he will be able to get enough paid PR support to make headlines and be accepted by the media as legit, even if he does not make Guinness Records.

By the way, what are the criteria for just holding the actual record, sort of like Jurek and the Appalachian Trail? I found it very suspect that Jurek beat the record only by a couple of hours. I bet this guy Young will do the same... barely slide in with a few hours to go.

It's a good thing that the distance running community will hold him a little more accountable for what they are saying.

Just as we had guessed. There was a lot of cheating until the thread stated. Once it blew up and they heard the ultra dudes were coming Rob started conserving energy. He is now spending that energy and will just have to walk it home for the record.

Rojo - forget about the watch. We need his historical data. Even if he claims not to have it, the offer will publicize the fact that the first blazing fast half was a sham and they've got no proof. It's not anyone else's fault that they weren't "prepared enough". He can finish slower than the record and come back again when he's got a functioning watch, a gopro and plenty of batteries and properly prove he ran/walked the whole thing.

Ive skimmed or read all 152 pages so far. Thinking ill try to see him when he comes through central pa. Obviously the stuff out west is a fraud but seems legit since asher posted. Glad laz and the ultracrew will keep him honest the rest of the way.

It is good see rojo in correspondence with the ultra guys. Keep putting the pressure on. I think having Strava rep out there is a brilliant idea. I bet they would go out their own dime. It is a way to sell themselves.
