Its not a new video, but still, what a breath of fresh air it is to see RanToJapan excitedly open a box of shoes he got sent some shoes that were slightly too small from an other runner. In addition to some adidas shoes he found some Vaporflys of an older model that were slightly used and being excited that they are more or less brand new. Good stuff.
any Shoetubers or elites doing Brighton marathon this weekend?
personally, i shall always refuse to do that race over the prize money being with-held fiasco, the extortionate entry fees, the enforcement of an expo so you have to stayover in the cesspit with there extortionate hotel prices and the generally awful course.
i cant find a single reason to do it when you have london 3 weeks later but always welcome seeing which mugs are going for it
Looking at the winning times for the Brighton Marathon over the last few years, it feels like a YouTuber could target this race and have a decent shot at winning.
I assume participating in London & PB attempt would generates more views than a win against a weaker field.

Brighton's last three times: 2024: 2:32:27
2023: 2:24:07
2022: 2:29:08
Yea, I was thinking this. It's a fairly big event: 20k runners. It is a little hilly and the wind can scupper PB attempts. However, Bester could probably win it. He mentioned in his Brighton half attempt Adidas give him a bonus for top 3 in an event with over 5000 runners.

Agreed, I've always thought the prize pot £500/£300/£200 is a bit mean for such a big event.
The whole thing would benefit from getting some elites back.

it used to be £2500 for the win, same poor standard - being won in 2:29~ but the organisers famously didnt pay the winners and declared bankruptcy, mugging off many local businesses.
the organisers are wronguns of the worst kind, robbing the poor while writing themselves 6 figure checks.
"luckily" the event is now organised by London Marathon events who seem to be gaining a monopoly on these mass participation events, hiking up he entry fees, denying decent runners free entry and removing any decent prize money. the event is just a glorified fun run these days
What's Fordy's goal race? He's doing a shake out run on the Sat! You can get tickets if you're interested, from his website. I don't know much about Fordy, but his name seems misleading. He does not look like someone who actually runs much; more like a middle age guy with a bad diet and spending too much time boozing

His goal race is Chicago (Believe in the run or New Balance are paying for it I believe) I've no doubt at all that he will come up with some excuse to not run it all out. He is targeting a 3:30 marathon and it should be well within his capabilities as he ran a 1:36 or something half the other week when he gave up after 10 miles as he "wasn't feeling it" and "walked it in"
I've no idea how he can possibly review all these shoes jogging 40k a week

It's quite pathetic really. It's so transparent it's almost funny how quickly these absolute jokers jump from brand to brand.
I don't even get it from Kiprun's perspective? A lot of people are starting to see through flying these losers around the world. We're all probably about to have our wallets blasted by orange man, but at least you sent Kofuzi to wear a different brand's clothing on a different continent this month? Great!
I heard an interesting comment from Andy Blow (CEO of Precision Fuel & Hydration) mentioning that they look through the social output of anyone they're considering supporting and want to see authenticity and want long term partnerships, not jumping brands each month like these leaches are doing. Hopefully more companies take that stance and Kofuzi and Thomas disapear.
