Yes, on the road, Mo definitely owns Bekele. Won the first WMM win in his second marathon after quitting track, and came in third for his first marathon, with one of the faster runner being the marathon GOAT Kipchoge.

On the XC, Bekele wins by a mile , but Mo didn't run it after his breakthrough, so it's kinda a Unknown.

On the track, it's a draw. Mo got the double-double, while Bekele has the records.

Btw, what annoys me a lot is people keep saying Mo doesn't hold a WR(aside from his indoor 2 miles), when what really matters is winning.

Yeah, for the Ethiopian, Haile is a more accomplished runner overall.

Bekele has a top 10 performance in the 2k, 3k, 5k, 10k, and Marathon, 4 world records, 2 Olympic records, 3 Olympic golds, 6 World Championship golds, and 11 World XC titles.

Farah isn't even close.

I can't tell if you guys are serious. Bekele have bettered all the marks of Haile, got double Golds in 2008 which Haile has never done. Even in his weakest event, the marathon, he ran the third fastest one a couple of years ago. Don't even get me started on the XC. And you're saying he's less accomplished than Haile?

I have immense respect for Haile, and I agree he has more charisma than Bekele, but no, he's not better than Bekele.

I agree that Farah can probably go much faster than 2:05, but that doesn't change my point. While Bekele seems done since Berlin 2016 (or at least Dubai 2017 where he claimed to be in fantastic shape), his transition to the road actually was pretty smooth by winning his first marathon in Paris in a time which is still slightly faster than Mo's PB and thereafter placing 4th in Chicago, 3rd in London and winning Berlin in the still third fastest time ever. And even in London 2017 when he already was out of shape he went away with a 2nd place finish, so you clearly have to be joking by claiming Mo owns Bekele on the roads.

Lawrence Cherono runs 2:04:05 to win and set the course record.

Bekele did not finish the race.

Slight mistake, that was London.

Another sad day for Bekele, it was hoping against hope anyway with his paunch, he should probably call it a day on Marathon before it gets even worse...

It will be interesting to hear what Kenenisa has to say about another DNF on his resume. Father Time is most unforgiving for the Greats.

Thanks. So Bekele has never finished 3 marathons in a row and Mo already has. :-)

They told Bekele to get off the. Juice again after his 203. Pretty obvious.

Bekeke’s problem is nutrition.

He needs to lose weight and make sure he drinks and takes some energy during the race. He missed for sure the first drink at 5k and maybe more.

But Haile set the world records more dramatically and set many more of them, in his favor.

It's amazing to me how 8 athletes come in under 2:07 in this race alone.

It's also shocking how in virtually all the A-level and B-level marathons just how many guys end up running under 2:10, and yet Galen Rupp is the only American that's even capable of doing it at the moment.

It's like how Molly Huddle set the American half-marathon record in a race she came in 7th place. The US is just so far behind the rest of the world in road racing.

If you let US athletes use EPO with reckless abandon like "the rest of the world", you'd have 100s go under 2:10.
