Kilian takes Selfie Stick video of himself climbing and to the summit.
Photos and video below.
Dangerous mountain with deadly exposure on both sides.
Yet he carries a Selfie Stick.
Yet not even one Everest photo.
He claims summiting Everest twice and not one photo and no video for either climb.

Yes, I just don't believe either claim. He's relying on his name to get him through.
If he really did it, you could still release a few photos and legit Strava and a short video, as a trailer for the so called "film" that is coming out. But nothing,
So how long are we supposed to wait for this film until we declare the whole thing a con?

Tell us more about switchbacks wrote:

Also, why did he feel the need to tell about the switchback cutting at speedgoat? Everybody knows that is how they race in europe, the race was part of a series of races with all the others in europe and Killian was never told before the race about switchbacks. I am sure there are switchbacks at Hardrock that he has won 4 times since and I have never heard of him trying to cut any of them.
Everybody knows? First I heard you're allowed to cut switchbacks at races in Europe. Is this accurate?
I read this from 2012 and it sounds like the RD was 100% star struck and gutless. The right call would be full DQ. How is a race 50k if you're allowed to cut switchbacks and still get the official win, but not prize money? Gutless.
From Irunfar interview
"So what I did… Kilian ended up crossing the finish line first in 5:14, which is ridiculously fast. Rickey Gates was 5:18 and change. I told Kilian when he initially crossed the line, “Hey, I may have to disqualify you because of cutting the course.” Kilian is a very gracious athlete and he said, “Yes, it’s ok. I understand. It’s ok.” I was pretty psyched about that. He was really gracious. He’s a great kid, because I’m old. At the same time, I waited a little while to decide what the final decision would be. I talked to 10 to 20 people. I got their insight and input. The most important input I got was probably was something that Pikes Peak did years ago when a few Europeans came over and they cut corners. I don’t know if they technically won the race, but they cut the corners. They didn’t disqualify them, but what they did do is they didn’t pay them the prize money. I said, “You know what? That’s probably a reasonably fair thing to do.”
To be honest with you, I hated to do this. I hate to be in this position. Some people will think I’m a bad guy for the decision that I made, but honestly, I think it was kind of the right decision. I couldn’t say “DQ. You’re out. Done. See ya next year maybe? Maybe not.” I really want this race to continue as a Skyrunning race. I want it to continue. I made the ultimate decision of going with what Pikes Peak did, and we paid Rickey Gates as the winner. Rickey also beat Kilian to the top, so he gets $1,000 bonus. He was also under the record. So Ricky gets $4,000, and, unfortunately, Kilian doesn’t get any money. I still gave Kilian Jornet the win, because as a Skyrunning Series program, I really want to keep that. I don’t want to diss him out on that whole thing. That’s kind of how they race in Europe and in all the other races, so I let that ride.
Kilian, again, was a very gracious athlete. He’s a really cool guy. Rickey felt good about it. A lot of the other spectators that know what my decision was, they thought that was good. Ultimately, the bottom line is that Rickey Gates will get the course record, technically the course record, because he followed the course. Again, it’s such a hard decision to make. Kilian was very gracious about it. So it is what it is."
Do you even know who Karl Meltzer is?
One of the nicest cheaters I've known.

Common personality trait of con men/scammers is that they appear "nice".
People can't believe they would do it as they are "nice".
They usually suck up to race directors too, and get THEM on side
I have my popcorn ready. When does his movie start? What a load of crap... There isn't one shred of evidence he reached the summit, only evidence he didn't. How does any rational human even argue he made it? You would have to ignore common sense and logic.

Hi Dan.
Good to see you've come back to bump your own thread...again.
Do you even run?

HoldingMyBreath,
You can breathe now. KJ is absolutely full of $hit.
Nice or not, the guy's a media whore and ethically challenged. Hopefully, for the sake of honesty, he is finally getting exposed as fraudulent. Immense talent does not negate the BS...

Dan go post your crap on letsclimb.com or some other website where more people might give a damn.
Is there any translation available?

That’s just the intro to the full article which is not there. Paraphrasing - They say inside they look into his summit attempts but note there is no evidence that he was at the top. They say a mountaineer with today’s technology has the burden of proof and should be able to prove it.
You’ll have to buy the magazine. But. Looks like they don’t believe he did it, but, I haven’t read the full article and my translation may be crappy.
Desnivel is THE Spanish climbing magazine...it's not just Dan Howlett anymore.
Am I missing something here? Hasn't Jornet said there are photos and videos showing him at the summit but they have been retained for exclusive use in the film (which makes sense). That film has been acquired for distribution - presumably by a distributions firm that saw the footage and thought it was credible and compelling (who wants to buy a lemon?). It's apparently in post. It was schedule for release around Christmas so is around 40 days late.
If the movie never comes out sure, conspiracy theories for days.
If it comes out and shows Killian on the top...he got to the top.
This thread feels like 17 pages of arguing about whether it's going to rain tomorrow - why don't we all just wait and see?
He's admitted cheating on ultras...Do you think he magically got an infusion of ethics?
Maybe he went to a morality rehab clinic...

Because that's like waiting for Mike Rossi to post his marathon photos.
Initially I was going to try writing a detailed report dissecting Jornet's Strava data for his Everest summits because the altitude data looked like it could possibly have been spliced in from somewhere else, explaining the jumps in altitude. However, after looking at his GPS data in more detail and doing some more research, I have come to the conclusion that altitude data is most likely genuine along with the rest of Jornet's GPS files that shows he did NOT reach summit of Everest.
I have also come to the opinion that Suunto watches are not suitable for use recording record attempts (legitimate or not) since there can be major data and safety issues with its FusedAlti that gives widely incorrect altitude when it is supposed to prevent exactly this type of thing from occurring:
https://m.facebook.com/groups/259647654139161?view=permalink&id=1374970742606841And this is not the first time we've seen a major bug in Suunto watches. I've still not received any reply back from Suunto from last year for reporting that some of their watches don't record cadence values with certain digits leading to Sun to cadence data with Swiss cheese patterns that look like it could have been faked.
