Also pretty funny all the stuff said about how the 1500 has fundamentally changed... turns out, nope—it was literally all just because of one guy being in the race (Jakob).

Nader might actually be one of the cleanest athletes, absolutely consistent his entire career with no big jumps. Always puts himself in the mix and then dies at the end. Wins basically a crapshoot slow race today, which is also supported by the fact Wightman almost won. And he was in bad shape all year. Who gets 3rd not even a Koech, it was Cheruiyot. I actually dislike Hocker and he probably wins this slow race today. Also Strand big L for him, this was the PERFECT race setup for him as well. Okay midwits Nader is dirty for winning a 3:34 closing in 52 seconds but Hocker is clean with a 3:27 closing in 53 seconds. Word man you guys got it.
Still gutted about Hocker's DQ 2 days later. He would have won this easily.
No he wouldn’t. He would just get boxed in, trip, or push somebody off the track.
Well that has only happened once in his career, would be a bit odd if it happened in the very next race.
Death, taxes, and LR continuing to underrate Hocker.
Anyone who watched those semis knows Hocker had the most run in his legs of anyone. He almost won his heat despite brutal positioning and running the last 50m squeezing between two guys.
Can we not start saying another guy who won the final is on drugs. Nader has had a steady progression the whole year, Its genuinly embarrassing for the sport if we as fans continue to do this
I agree with this completely. There is not any other place to go to get this high level of commentary & the true fan experience but it gets dragged down by this nonsense.
I do appreciate the historical insight around Nader’s coach & legacy. That’s quality stuff & why this forum is where I come to talk track. & every time I do I smh at the haters, petty pricks & reactive aholes. I do also think Rojos comment on segregation is clear evidence of the kind of crowd that gets encouraged on this board. Sad but true.

Crazy... As a brit, and a fan of the sport, I was gutted to see Kerr finish like that.
HOWEVER... the footage clearly showed he stepped over onto the infield at one point. Why wasn't he DQd for that?? It was only one foot, but very clear.

I think this is a big reason why the 1500 became so compelling. Jakob's tactics made it very clear what you had to do to win a global 15. And so we'd see guys progress and slowly realize a win was possible (Kerr, Hocker). Compare that to this race where the 1-2 finishers had no business finishing there if it was a typical Jakob-style fitness test. Ironically the event is a lot less compelling when the championships are just crapshoots.

17.10 seems like a surprisingly tough mark for auto Q
One thing I noticed is that tthe top 5 in the race were pretty much separated from the rest of the field in the final 50 meters, these guys were the fittest and fastest ok the day: Nader, Wightman, Both Cheruiyots, and Laros. Everyone else was almost a second behind.
Like so many others I am absolutely NOT a Josh Kerr fan and I was hoping he would not medal. But not like this. I am very sorry he got injured and wish him a fast recovery.
I also admire that he felt the need to finish the race dispite his injury. Maybe not the smartest thing to do but it shows a gutsy resolve.

Too bad too sad. He got himself DQed and he will never continue on his legacy. Looks like the fluke comments are semi valid, can’t make it up.
Nader has improved steadily over the last years. He is no. 7 on the 2025 toplist in the 1500m. In the final only Laros is higher on the list (no. 5) and Laros has only marginally faster.
So why should Nader be banned?
Because he's from a doping country, his father is from a double doping country and he's got a coach who got his reputation from working with mega-doped athletes.
Reputation is important in sport, and I can think of no other reason why an athlete would actively seek out the services of a known doping coach other than the obvious.
OK I see that you are a guy who knows your stuff!
What is your take then on Sydney and Jefferson-Wooden? Aren´t they from a country where generation after generations of sprinters have been busted and haven´t their coaches been involved in doping scandals?
