They need to stop with this junk science .100 rule. The science behind that is based on the general population. These are outlier athletes in the first place. There is simply no proof or reliable evidence that an athlete cannot react at .099.
It take's sound 0.029 seconds for sound to travel 10m, so covering at least to lane 8. So there has to be some limit or it's just guessing.
0.1 may be too high but most don't fail at that limit.
Maybe a re-evaluation to see what they average at the elite end but I can't imagine it would be much lower.
That was true once upon a time but today the starting blocks have speakers so everybody hears the gun at the same time and it is as close to instantaneous as modern science can make it.
How can Elise Cranny, if not medal, at least break through a bit? I don't see any reason she should be losing to Megan Keith, Lauren Ryan, Hironaka -- that would get her top 6. Why can't she seem to run to her potential in the WC or Oly?
