his latest training video is unhinged. the level of self delusion/importance/aggrandizement on display is just wowwww. If you don't want to watch the whole thing, check out 27:30-33:30 especially.

But another gem I found was at [9:35] into the video when he's talking about this 6 x 5-min workout on the treadmill this is what he says:
"The paces you're going to see today....are they real? And the answer is...I don't care!"
...yes this treadmill is new and has been fully calibrated....but I don't think necessarily I'd be able to hit this workout today in a one-to-one session......but maybe I would on the track....certainly at sea level!"
Within a span of 20 seconds he basically totally reverses what he says and delves into his illusions and toxic positivity. Insane that people think this is "inspiring content". It's totally misleading and a facade imo.

Treat this guy like a wwe character. He’s a good runner but treat him as a promoter. These characters are missing in ultra running. At least he’s crap talking. Jim used to do this in like 2017.
Impressive how fast Roche has ascended into Pete Weber territory "Hate me or love me, you watched. That's all you could do" I like the WWE comparison too.
The goalposts have now been moved, from people thinking he was claiming the treadmill paces are accurate, which he clearly isn't, but now we get a juicy quote where he says he might be able to do it on a track certainly at sea-level, whatever that means.
I want to know what people think about him saying he "doesn't have hat much time to train" as he proceeds to stretch, then warmup on the roads, then warmup with ankle weights, then warmup on the treadmill, then run a workout, then have a snack, then do a cooldown, then go sit in the hottub. Most runners I know barely have time for one warmup much less 3.
also he says, i love you to his wife to much, we should be mad about that. And he mentions the haters on letsrun
I know I'm playing both sides a little but it's fun

He wasn’t? He clearly publicized to his thousands of followers exact splits for his workout
Okay, let's objectively break this down:
The workout claimed was to be 6 x 5-minutes at 4:36 down to 4:24/Mile Pace on a 2-min rest. So that is even harder than 6 x 1-mile. Don't worry he makes sure to bring this point up.
[9:34]: He says he "doesn't care" if the "paces are real." But then emphasizes that the treadmill is "fully calibrated "and that he could probably do the workout on the Track...and "definitely at sea level." The whole video then emphasis the exact low 4-min Paces he is running on each rep and even for his strides. He frequently mentions the paces he is then running with min/km pace conversions also no less. A lot of text and verbal mentions of these very exact paces that may or may not be real and that he "doesn't care" about!
[28:05]: Rehashes how his Leadville 100 was "The Best Trail Race in the ENTIRE WORLD in 2024, any distance, any nationality!"
Um yeah, okay. Move over Kilian at Sierre-Zinal or Vincent Bouillard at UTMB.
[29:48]: Claims he had "2 of the best months in ULTRA RUNNING HISTORY"... just 2 months? Yeah forget about Courtney's triple one summer.
[34:54]: "One thing you're going to learn about me is that I'm relatively frugal" and then goes on to mention how he got some $10 Target boys clothes (ski pants) for himself. He does this while surrounded by probably $50,000+ worth of bikes and gym equipment in his special gym room.
[34:00] Plugs taking Ketones but then says: "Do not try this at home without reading ALL MY ARTICLES ON IT to get the KNOWLEDGE and SCIENCE!"
Um yeah, because he's basically a doctor, right?
There are just so many contradictions and things that don't add up with the Roches imo. Misleading and dishing out toxic positivity left and right.
It would be insightful if he actually did a workout outside on a track (or raced a real Mile or 5km).
He wasn’t? He clearly publicized to his thousands of followers exact splits for his workout

So, to summarize:
-the workout he actually ran was actually HARDER than what he had posted
-He doesn’t care if the paces are real or not
-But the paces are absolutely real bc his treadmill is absolutely calibrated
-He could absolutely do this workout on the track or at sea level, but he won’t
-But ultimately he doesn’t care at all about the paces and that isn’t what running is about!
There's been plenty of analysis of his podcasts, his paid patreon content, and other podcasts about him. People were bringing up the specific treadmill model he used to have and the one he has now. There were also people looking at his heartrate and pace for specific strava segments and video clips.
I'm starting to come around on the people who are just hating him for the fun of it and owning it. That's part of the fun of sports. But pretending that you're not going out of your way, like he's sending the strava files to your phone without you asking is a little ridiculous. Or being the 100th commenter to pretend you're doing a public service by saying he can't run sub-4. Like yea, we know.
II may have missed those comments, but it's my understanding he has the Wahoo Kickr Run. What's the opinion?
Never owned a treadmill, but the idea has been on my mind since multiple friends or neighbors have been hit crossing streets in recent years. Just this week, a neighbor crossed a street with the protected pedestrian signal illuminated. The intersection has signage in all four directions stating those making lefts must yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians when the protected pedestrian signal is illuminated. A car made a left without yielding and knocked him over. He hit his head but otherwise is okay.
He wasn’t? He clearly publicized to his thousands of followers exact splits for his workout
Okay, let's objectively break this down...
Don't forget that moment he says he is going at 4 minute mile pace, for a brief moment, and then hastily and clumsily flails at the treadmill speed paddle to lower it as fast as humanly possible.
I watched the portion of the workout video mentioned. Look, if you're a borderline sociopath because you believe you're unique because you're an elite athlete, fine. I accept many of these people aren't "normal" in the social sense. But the second you involve your family, you've crossed the line from "this guy is a bit weird" to you're a flat out awful person. His wife standing there holding the baby watching him in his delusion is the most awkward and painful thing I've watched on youtube.
I don't know how any brand goes near this guy. It's just a matter of time before he has a public meltdown and becomes a full on untouchable public relations nightmare. He's simply unstable.
I love to hate watch running content and this dude is scratching an itch that I haven’t been able to scratch since peak Seth Demoor
Seriously. If all I knew was that he ran Leadville in a record time, I'd think he was great.
But then he goes out of his way time and time again to lie and then lie again and then lie some more, seemingly for no reason. Well, for money and attention.
[28:05]: Rehashes how his Leadville 100 was "The Best Trail Race in the ENTIRE WORLD in 2024, any distance, any nationality!"
This is one of my favorite delusions of his. "Best Trail Performance in the World!" -- as determined by Dylan Bowman, who is of course the only voice that matters in trail running and certainly represents US and World Athletics. Or did I miss the memo that DBo is, in fact, the voice of the world?
