Every time you wade out of the short end of “I’m a famous scientist, I once held the mile record at Great Neck High School, and I demand your respect, damn it” and into a tennis pool, you get your a$s handed to you.
Isn’t it peculiar that Djokovic hasn’t tested positive for Covid since December 2021 when it was a big nothing burger? He had a flu in January during the Australian Open, which was going around and that several *vaccinated* players also got with diminished play. He didn’t test positive for Covid. He lost to a much younger, fresher Jannik Sinner in the semifinal, but you all act like he didn’t just lose to Sinner in two previous, recent matches before the Australian (he did). That he lost to Sinner again shouldn’t have come as a surprise.
Injuries come with age. Again, look at the ATP top 150 and tell me how many 37+ year olds are on there. You all act like Djokovic has won every match and every tourney he’s ever played in over the years, and anything less was long influenza. A soft tissue injury just HAS to be long Covid inflammation (pretty damn rare).
It’s not that none of us can’t entertain the possibility that “Long Covid” took Djokovic out. It’s that you can’t consider the possibility that it has nothing to do with Covid, speaking of subscribing to only one ideology. By the way, and I know this is a newsflash, but Djokovic isn’t going to open up as the favorite to win the US Open. So, you might as well tee up everyone’s expectations now that if he does anything else but win, you’re going to be on here incessantly bragging about how it must be Long Covid relapse. We all know what’s coming.
I have a friend suffering from Long Covid. This ain’t no long Covid. Douche.
