Engelhardt was just mentioned on the list of committed athletes in a release by New Balance today for NBIN. I’m a little confused now about her status this spring.

Any middle or high school athlete can run NBIN unattached.
Yes, although my understanding was that Sadie was forgoeing high school competitions altogether. Oh well
Sadie said she wouldn't run any CIF meets this year because she was quitting her high school team. She also said thar she wanted to race against pros.
She left unanswered the obvious question of whether or not she would be running in national meets like New Balance and Brooks PR. We now know the answer to that question.
That is actually not what she said at all? She said won't be racing for her High School (Ventura) as they aren't supportive of her running in the bigger meets and then cited all of these CIF rules to justify not supporting her outright. How is she supposed to get faster running against the same people she's been racing since Middle School? Come on Letsrun, don't play dumb.

Sadie never said about her high school that "they aren't supportive of her running in the bigger meets". There just wasn't any point in Sadie running in a whole bunch of smaller meets like being on a high school team would have required. Her high school wasn't trying to prevent her from running in big meets.

She will run in a combination of hs, college and pro meets, while completing the final semester of her senior year at Ventura.
The hs meets will just not be the ones that lead to qualifying for the CIF California State Meet, or any other CA meet that deems her ineligible.
She is not ready for The PRO's She would not be competitive with Women like F.Kipyegon, B.Chebet, G.Tsegay YET, She might have a Hard Time getting into Diamond League Meets, Maybe The Pre Classic would let her run as The Young American, but She has no chance of Winning against the Runners I Mentioned
The girls team beat all CA teams at Woodbridge and they were imploded come state meet
The girls missed it because one of their scorers got injured, and they were only 5 deep at the level needed to compete at state. It happens all the time just bad luck, nothing special about it or specific to the coaching.

She's not turning pro, just running in some pro and college meets.
This made her ineligible for CA State high school champs.
To make it official, she just announced she would not run any CA State outdoor meets in '25.
Some of the Newbury Park kids did same in previous years.
She still attends and will graduate from Ventura High.
She will attend NC State in the Fall.
Much ado about nothing, but she has some good races coming up.
