It's funny that you know better than me the training and the characteristics of Nyaga, whose name probably you never heard before my post. I coached Nyaga on daily basis, he was with me from 1998, but you know everything.....
Do you know also everything about Bernard Lagat, who ran a lot of times 800m (his best time is 1'46"00 in 2003, his 10th best is 1'46"96 in 2004, his best 10 performances include 1'46"02 in 1998 and 1'46"84 in 2009, so he ran 800m during all his career, and when was in top shape for 1500m), or about Ronald Kwemoi, who when was in shape was practically unbeatable in the last furlong (see Monaco 2016, or Eugene 2017) and has a PB of 1'47"43 ?
For being fast at the end of a competition of 1500m the characteristics athletes need include, of course, their speed, but specially the relaxation and the level of their aerobic power.
I didn't claim to know anything about him personally; I formed a view about his performance over 800m based on your information that he was a specialist over longer distances. Are you now saying he was as committed to the shorter distance as he was to his efforts over the 1500/mile? If he was, I would be surprised, since he didn't appear to have been anything like at the same competitive level in the 800m. All of that can be understood from what you have said about him.
