Just like we wonder about how much of the Trumpers on here are lying/pretending or are actually that dumb, that question, of course, also very regularly applies to Trump.
The comments he made about illegal farm workers a day or two ago are a perfect example. Now, he MIGHT be smart/aware enough to know that what he's saying is 100% inconsistent with what he said during the campaign, and probably since. But I tend to NOT believe that he actually fully appreciates how incredibly stupid and contradictory it makes him look.
Of course, the bad news (and good news for him, which I suppose he fully understands), is that roughly 70 million Americans can hear him say that and NOT reach ONE of the ONLY 2 conclusions that should be possible:
1) He was and is lying about that aspect of immigration.
2) He ACTUALLY didn't understand the importance of illegals to farming (until, as ER says, a fat azz farmer FINALLY got his ear about it in June 2025).
Either one, disqualifying.
But 70 million: Eh.
