Not necessarily. Many hyper-partisan people just short-circuit the process on the way to rage, and rationality is always subsumed under, and adapted to the purpose of serving, emotional reactions. The autopen vs social media is a pretty weak example of the deluge of hypocrisy unleashed over the last decade, and it’s not as though political hypocrisy had been in short supply (from politicians, pundits, and citizens, across the political spectrum) prior to that.
So I believe most of the rage is fake about that from most of the politicians and from the social media and mass media (on the Right in this case). But from the rank and file, most of the rage is genuine. The weaponizers and monetizers of rage bait are OK with this, not only due to self-interest, but because they’re convinced that even manufactured rage serves multiple interests of the people being manipulated, so they’re not actually doing them dirty by manipulating them.

That would be a very dark moment for liberals. They would start it over an insatiable desire to inflict pain and chaos because the country is full of optimism, that they had nothing to do with. It hurts them, but it will kill them if they do not wake up and see the light that MAGA has shown this country and the World. Trumps numbers are flying high, in spite of everything Dems try to do to stop it. Not our fault, we only cast a vote.
