BoomShakaLaka must be absolutely loving the fall of the Fox.
Once you emerge Fox, you’d be best off going back to the BoomShakalaka with your tail between your legs and beg for a job as water boy on the BestAthletics team.
Or maybe you could hand out Anyas or Flobergs bottles for them.
Let’s Go
”it was a tough day. It was warm and windy”
In other words, this was a 2:29:59 equivalent.
Wow quick Floberg video to share his thoughts. Defending his stance as a more emotional / "deeper meaning" runner. You know, in a weird way, the fact that it is just running and doesn't matter is what I think gives him permission to think of it however he wants and get out of it whatever he wants.
IMO he'd benefit from doing several months of base training running for joy with no goal paces in workouts and then carrying that lightness into a training cycle and ultimately race day. Just take a break from the current mindset to avoid burnout and perhaps have a more balanced outlook when it is time to focus on a goal again.
Glancing at his Strava it looks like he's mostly done the pattern where your peak mileage weeks are about a month before the race when you're doing hard workouts and also running a HM around that time. If he'd hit peak mileage in base training with light workouts (some 100 milers?) and then actually come down in mileage as he increases the intensity of the workouts 4-8 weeks out, I think he'd enjoy training a lot more and have a breakthrough race.
It could actually be a really good idea if Chicago is his next marathon. 3 months of base training and a mental reset before doing a cycle for Chicago. I'm sure that, artistically, this could actually be a good content opportunity. An interlude when he could focus on anything but his own training / goals in the videos -- the scenery, the community, whatever.
I love all the rubes thinking that Matt Choi’s alleged 70 miles @ 6:55 pace is continuous activity, when he’s barely broken 3 in the marathon (and even then with full bike support, etc.) with a similar pace.
44 hour elapsed time is crazy

Has anyone watched the channel Run The Planet? It's only small but the guy is running ridiculous mileage and 40k long runs with 3 x 10k at marathon pace and doesn't seem to be getting any quicker than a 3:30 marathon!. He blew up at Barcelona this weekend
That's because that is an asinine workout. Anyone dumb enough to do that deserves a sufferfest.

It wouldn't be about HIM though would it? Everything needs to be about Floberg. He is the most important person in running.
YouTubers like Ben Felton, Nick Bester et al would be much better runners if they actually trained correctly and weren't chasing views but it's the path these chosen
Meanwhile, Cole Running ran a relay leg of 5.35 miles at 4:54 pace.—plus a 2.5 mile warmup and 10 mile cooldown—to wrap up a chill week of 138.7 miles of running, plus 2.5 hours on the bike.
Those silly pros and their pathetic 120mpw!

Cole has joined the church of Jake Barraclough (RanToJapan) "train harder not smarter".
(I can't really criticize as I am also a devotee)
"I don't know why he was telling me his workout routine, I already have mine" is a greater line than you'll hear in 10 hours of watching shoetubers
Ben is running has a new video, I guess a few of you saw it 2 days ago with your patreon subscriptions.
Is he making excuses already for London? I can't bare to watch

The number of people that would be better served by this approach to marathon training is astronomical. But if people aren't putting in huge volume AND intensity a month out from the race, they feel like they're slacking. But in reality they're digging a hole even taper can't get them out of.
Shoe reviewer Edd Bud has a rough time of it at the Yeovil half today, no sub 90 on the cards

I enjoy his reviews but a runner he is not.
He's barely hitting 50k a week for marathon training
I think that's a bit harsh, he's still a runner just not a high volume one. It's not like he's claiming to be anything he's not to sell some coaching packages. But I'd agree I'm not sure his training supports his goals.

On top of that, the data is just really really bad too. Mile 13 it says he ran a 6:36 with 668ft climb which I would bet my whole life savings he couldn’t do in one all out mile fresh with that vert (because 99+% of people can’t). Looks like he left his watch running as he jumped back in the pacer car which is so dishonest but def matches his actions. I was on a winning TSP team several years ago and ran ~56mi and uploaded all my stupid segments individually. Side note- the top few teams sponsored by running brands take it seriously and are real runners for the most part but the majority of people there are insufferable influencers. Had the “pleasure” of interacting with Alexi Pappas at the after pool-party as she threw all my stuff including my wallet and phone off the table onto the ground so she could dance on the table for an Instagram video while wearing a tiara…
I like to think have got to know FOD & the Brooms well and we have appeared in a few of the same races and videos in recent months. I don't know the American YouTubers at all. Not sure many of them know where the UK is save for London Marathon and their 6 star quest. I did a collab with the YouTuber formerly known as Aubrey Running but now he is larger than me in all ways, I doubt he will want to do another one. Bester have said hello to and exchanged a few messages. MARM & Donato I met at Bourton 10K before they ran off into the distance. Not met Matt Fox but have exchanged a few messages. Not met Felton or Parkes or Cole but again left a comments on their videos so they know who I am.

Just watched and it’s not that bad tbh. Mentions losing about 10 days worth of training and is taking a sensible approach to training after recovering from a niggle. The Kenyan scenery makes a nice change from what you usually see on YouTube. Aside from mentioning what watch and shoes he’s wearing only shilling is done for Soar 3 quarters of the way through the video as they sponsoring the series.
