I asked a while back, "does anyone really believe that if Trump said 'send him back', Bukele would not comply?" That would make Trump a total chump to a 3rd world dictator. Of course he complied, and of course Trump had to comply with SCOTUS.
The reality here is that Trump is still beholden to law in the US and he knows it. The most sycophant congress member understands this and will only support his dictator wannabe habits so far. They understand that if/when the tables turn, if laws no longer matter, they are in deep trouble.
Law and Order.
Not at all sure why you're so confident.
Dictatorships, and thereabouts, happen. The "tables turning" and "deep trouble" can be delayed years (see Hungary, Turkey, etc.), decades (see Russia, Iraq, Iran, etc.), or generations (see N. Korea).
It's always interesting that in the sea of dozens upon dozens of truly horrible adjectives that you can very fairly use to describe Trump, somewhat simple and humble "SHALLOW" is never far away.
But not just run of the mill "shallow." But truly world class, jaw-dropping, mind-blowingly, how-can-it-be-in-a-man-of-that-age SHALLOW.
Of course he’s shallow. It’s one of his many character flaws.
but you look at so many politicians who are full of themselves and who are liars. Amid the sorry lot of humanity, they often stand out.
Still in those areas, they are nothing compared to this guy. Not even close.
Both flaws are well established, and I won’t go into the litany of examples of the lying at the moment.
But on being utterly self-absorbed: the guy hosted a German leader in the oval the other day. And once again, you can guess what might’ve happened when he was given a circumstance calling for a throwaway line of polite rote diplomacy that any knucklehead can get through — or even a relatively senescent knucklehead, as you sometimes find in a president: to congratulate the visitor on his recent electoral win.
An pd the US president decided to make it about himself by referring to you, and playing up, his own electoral victory. “Decided” is probably wrong: the guy clearly cannot help himself. He has not even an iota of discipline in that regard.
Yet his followers think that he is right when he says he’s serving them, or at least that they can goad and manipulate him into serving them.

Oops, almost forgot to cite all of the wonderful Gulf states who's neighborhood Trump just gleefully visited !!!

During a meeting with then UK Prime Minister David Cameron, Obama commented on the importance of the Affordable Care Act, emphasizing his domestic policy during an international discussion.
Clinton inserted personal narratives into formal events, steering discussions to his economic successes when the setting was inappropriate.
lol, I get it. we all wanted that to happen, but I think Trump believed it. he is an egomaniac you know, but so is Putin. Clash of Titans. I just do not see any cards Russia can play other than nuclear, and they aren’t Muslim or Japanese. I don’t see it. Trump has the clear winning hand.
Well, I sincerely hope he uses his winning hand soon.
President Donald Trump said Friday that he was "strongly considering" imposing sanctions and tariffs on Russia until a ceasefire and permanent peace deal was reached in its war with Ukraine.
It is unclear how much impact economic penalties would have on the Russian government, since they already face various sanctions imposed by the previous administration.
Here, let me sum it up by sticking to the headlines:
Trump "threatens". Oooooh
Trump "strongly considering". Oh my goodness!
Trump "threatens". Wow!
I gotta hand it to you, those are strong ACTIONS. Now, if only he had given Putin a deadline . . . like perhaps two weeks - that would really have shown Putin who's boss!

I believe you were responding to a post that contained the following sentences: “but you look at so many politicians who are full of themselves and who are liars. Amid the sorry lot of humanity, they often stand out.”
i could say something like “the 2024 White Sox we’re historically awful,” and you’re carefully crafted retort would be: “ you idiot: the Rockies and Marlins were really bad.”
Actually, I guess you don’t have an emotional investment in those teams, so the analogy doesn’t really produce the same abandonment of reason that is a hallmark of your understanding of politics (hey, don’t feel bad, there are many people across the political spectrum — yep, tons of liberals included — who struggle with the very same problem).

Me neither. I oscillate between states of shock at the brazen lawlessness of Trump and 'it can't be as bad as it seems, could it? This is America, land of the free.' Mostly the courts have held. But, It is clear republicans in congress are a bunch of sycophants. Some are at least pushing back a little before they roll over for their butt pounding that they think will save them from a mentally unstable egomaniac who lives for power and revenge. Eventually he wants their power, too.
The damage done in 5 months is astonishing. A lot of it is what maaga wants, basically a dictator. But a lot of what is already baked in - product shortages, inflation, weak dollar, layoffs, lack of foreign confidence and investment, will hurt them. I hope that will be enough for a wakeup call, but I do wonder.
The courts and the fact that magga is still a minority (<50%) give me some hope. But you are right. That post was overly optimistic.
Millions of illegals let in, weaponization of DOJ against Republicans, pardoning his son, and commuting death sentences.
How come Dems are such fans of the concept now?
The Republican controlled Congress could not find a reason to impeach Biden.
Biden DOJ prosecuted Hunter Biden, Senator Menendez (D), Mayor Adams (D). Other than clearly defined indictments for Trump with full due process, no other prominent republicans were prosecuted. The 'weaponized Biden DOJ' is just a phrase with no basis in reality. It is an excuse for Trump to prosecute political rivals on made up charges.
I disagree with an unchecked pardon power by the President, but it is one of his powers.
Fact check: Biden sent death row inmates to life without parole. They will never be free. He did pardon his son to keep him from Trump's vendetta.
Trump fully pardoned 100s of people who assaulted police officers with pipes, chemical spray, and fists who were defending the US Capitol and commuted sentences of people convicted of Seditious Conspiracy. He has also pardoned several drug and human traffickers who donated to him. It is in his powers, but it is despicable.

Ha. Ya, ok, ace, whatever you say, tiger. Report back the amount of decline in U.S. - Russia trade volume since 2021.
(S.1241/H.R.2548) - Ever heard of it, Einstein?
Trump's actions are definitely better than Biden's work. Harris, my lord, could you imagine?
Officials have indicated that imposing additional tariffs could hinder ongoing negotiations and potential peace efforts related to the Ukraine conflict.
Handling Russia isn't as simple as - let's give Ukraine missiles!! Yay!! Go Ukraine.
What would you propose, Mr. President? Tell us how you would end the war. The world would like to know.

You dense, son? You been vaping crypto? I was simply illustrating your argument is dumb. You are saying something to the effect of - Trump is a horrible person because he didn't brown-nose a guest. That's it?? What else do you want him to do? Dance like a monkey for you? You dems whine about everything. So soft. What generation you from, son?
