Give Floberg some credit. A couple years ago he was struggling to break-3. (He finished behind Kofuzi at Grandma’s a couple of years ago.)
He has gotten down to 2:32 without very high mileage which is pretty damn good.
I'm impressed with the result. I'm curious to see where he goes from here in terms of training. I know he's flirting with doing Marathon Project. I think it's interesting that this new "time trial" format is all the rage right now.
If you're going to call people out on ethics, maybe don't lie about their videos. He does not call the Novablast 5 the shoe of the year. In his comparison section he says the Rebel V4 was his trainer of the year last year and the Evo SL will probably be this year. He recommends both of them ahead of the Novablast.
But I guess that doesn't fit the narrative here...
So the mods again delete another post about Kofuzi, who went on a glorified bus tour of Morocco that he was paid in free travel and cash considerations for. The post also mentioned how viewership over on Believe in the Run has cratered. And suggests that people taking endless free trips, and if you add up the free trips Kofuzi and Believe in the Run have accepted it's got to be well into the six figures, might have alienated their audiences. That is not personally attacking another forum user, it's being critical of questionable behavior in the industry: Asics flies Kofuzi around the world, literally, he says all their shoes are great. What a coincidence.

It is a coincidence. Kofuzi says the paid travel has no effect on his reviews.
Floberg will attempt to rationalize how due to x, y, and z that his performance today was really worth a 2:28.
Sick burn, you stinkin’ keyboard asshat.
You need to quit drinking that Haterade, brother. Dude has accomplished something really impressive regardless of if it’s short of the goal. Takes courage to have a public goal from the start knowing haters like you will inevitably come up.
Actual running content that is about the event, and not the guy with the selfie stick, from the always great Harry Morgan and his JogOn channel at the British National XC Meet:
Side note: did anybody tell the Brits that the Tallahassee course is basically a traditional American XC grass track on a golf course? Running in that much mud to select a team for World XC?

It's good to point out conflicts of interest, but you guys are refusing to admit what is actually in his videos. He literally ends the Novablast 5 review by recommending the Rebel V4 and Evo SL over the Novablast.
He wasn't as explicit as he was with the Evo, but he starts the comparison by saying the Rebel was his daily trainer of the year last year. That's over the Novablast.

There are many reasons people dislike Floberg and most are around the production of his videos, being followed by a cameraman, being sponsored by BPN, his lack of understanding of running training yet being a coach, his lack of self awareness, thinking he is close to being elite, his poor nutrition and bodily functions and generally his attitude.
You need to remember that he turned up at Grandmas having averaged 40 something miles per week and just 2 runs over 17 miles attempting sub 3. He was a fit person prior to this period. He's upped his mileage to 45 miles for 45 miles for Chicago and hits sub 3. Very low mileage for that target.
He's only been "in love with the running community" since he has got sub 3. Let's see his love of the grind when results don't go his way
In Ko’s defense, he ran a 2:58 at the (slightly downhill but overall pretty legit) Grandma’s and a 2:56 at (pancake flat World Major) Tokyo after that. He also openly acknowledged that the Tunnel course was downhill and discussed what he thought the Tunnel BQ would mean on a “real” course. Wasn’t trying to deceive anyone. But yeah, not his finest moment, and his running has been downhill (in quality, not course elevation) ever since he ran the legit Sub 3s followed by 3:04 mini blowup at Boston. He might be cooked from here on out, idk
OTOH pretty hilarious that the REVEL races advertise more than 2.5x the downhill of this already extremely downhill course, on paved road as opposed to rough packed terrain, with better course support. The lengths to which some people will go to fluff their delicate fragile egos and be able to tell themselves that they “qualified” for the hobby jogging Olympics are truly remarkable
So that’s why I look at Floberg and McKirdy and the usual shoetuber nonsense and generally think “at least they’re not cheaters” (the ones not loaded with PEDS to Go One More, that is)
Grandma's had a massive tailwind that day,and I take it you've not run Tokyo? The first 10k is downhill then it flattens off,it's only the amount of turns that slows it slightly, but at that speed it shouldn't have too much effect.

The actual running side of things is not the issue with most of these YouTubers.
The main anger on this thread is around the shills who are paid to give good reviews, the people like Floberg, with very little knowledge, charging $120 a month to coach people when they don't know what they're doing and the falseness of the interactions these people have. It's all about money for many of these. They'll sell their soul for a $
Notice how Crown My Run, The old Brooms and MARM are spoken about with high regard? That's because they're just running and not trying to sell us anything
Ran to Japan has made a comeback after an injury. What else could he do but run a marathon right away? Sakura Marathon 2:23. Stupid, but at the same time very true to his style.

Let's not give the Brooms the "Old Yeller" treatment just yet..
I've received free gear before (different hobby to running) and it 100% influences your opinion on a brand. I was sent about 800AUD - over a year or so - of gear from a higher end brand. My view on them was heaps more positive than previously and I still have a big soft-spot for them. I can't imagine how much leveradge getting a trip (or many in some cases) abroad does for buying influence.
I'd always be really concious talking with friends about equipment after that - I was extremely lucky but also rubbed a few braincells together to realise that this company was chucking similar amounts of equipment about, and that maybe the retail price is indeed heavily marked up from what it could be sold for. We've also got a possibly-negative attitude around tall poppy syndrome, maybe we could export it to the US to cut some influencers down a little bit.
TLDR - Konfuzi and other influencers are lying out of their a** saying it doesn't impact. Good content creators and reviewers can recognise and acknowledge that the bias exists. Most running influencers dont seem capable of that kind of self-reflection and are just blatant shills.
